I really liked them as a kid.

I like the way you can use the same color and make gradients just by adding more or less water. x3 Haven't done anything with watercolors though in ages.

Me neither, haven't used them since my primary school. But I had much fun with them so I might give it another try one day, just for fun.

Haha! I'm actually drawing on the tablet for the first time in what must be well over a year by now. %D

Originally I was just planning on updating my old ID (fixing my age, since I haven't bothered to update it every year and was stupid enough not just to state the year of my birth XDDDD). Then I realized just how outdated the content is, so here I am, working on a new ID. Stopping for the night now however. :3

Forgot to answer your previous question. xD I use a large Wacom Intuos4 tablet. My very first tablet was a Wacom Graphire 1.

Honestly, I prefered it when my tablet was smaller. But with today's resolutions and monitor sizes it just couldn't keep up. xD So, not the biggest fan of my current tablet, but I would never choose another brand than Wacom and a tablet is a given for me now. XD

I never had one but one of schoolmates has and it, I think it's Wacom but not sure what model.

There should be a sticker underneath it that you can check, if you're curious. :3 Wacom has very good quality and they were very early with not having batteries inside the pen or a cable connecting it to the drawing pad. :3
Doesn't beat the feel of pen and paper, but it opens up a world of possibilities.

Did it take you a lot of time to get used to it?

demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-04 20:11:57 +0000 UTC]
Not that long I think. It's many years ago now, but I really adopted my first wacom and would even use the pen instead of my regular mouse.
One thing I do remember, is that it took a while to shake of that habit from using a mouse, where you would slide the mouse across the mousepad repeatedly to get to the other side of the screen. Didn't work that well with the pen.

So you used the tablet for most of your pictures in your gallery?

demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-08 20:43:46 +0000 UTC]
Hm, a lot of them at least. It varies. Some are drawn on paper or painted with water colors. There are a bunch made with colored pens too... For practical reasons, my more resent pictures (PMDU-Art mainly) has been drawn and painted with the tablet (I usually do some raw sketches on paper though, since it's easier to control the angle and curves when drawing on paper), since my art kit has been stored away in a box somewhere ever since we moved from town a coupe of years ago. xD;

Nice. Your gallery is full of different styles and colors, it's so fun and relaxing just checking it out. What style do you prefer most? Chibi, realistic, cartoony?

demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-08 22:11:19 +0000 UTC]
I think it depends on the motive. Horses I prefer to draw realisticly and if on the computer, it's nice to smudge the shadings. On the other hand, cartoony lets me play around with exagerated shapes and bold lines. I enjoy that a lot. Painting with aquarell can be both exciting and relaxing. Depending on the amount of water used, it comes with a mind of it's own.... (for the life of me, I can't figure out how aquarell is supposed to work in SAI xD).
I think cartoony wins out at the moment. Thinking back, I enjoyed doing those ACEO cards for my friends many years ago. Coloring them was a pain in the ***, but I enjoyed doing the lineart. *_*

Is it difficult to switch between the styles? For example, would you be able to work on a realistic picture and cartoony one one the same day?

demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-08 23:05:31 +0000 UTC]
While doodling I'd often swap inbetween the two forms, so I don't think that there would be a problem in that respect. It's both in your backbone so to speak. Swapping between styles on the computer might be a bit more tricky though, as I need to freshen up on some of the techniques and figure out the program again after not using it for so long.

Speaking of which, have an update:

Good evening. Worked a little on the ID (ended up stalking some Deviantgalleries instead though, so not much progress to report). Aiming to finish the ID before I resume finishing the plushies that are currently underway. Might take a while though, as I'm heading for Sweden in a week from now and will be there for a few weeks. Not sure if I can bring plushing work with me there. XD Might be bringing my cat and her stuff needs a lot of bag space.

Aw that's nice, hope you will enjoy your stay there. By the way, is Sweden more cold than Denmark this time of the year?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-09 23:26:55 +0000 UTC]
It is colder in Sweden for sure. Comparing where I grew up with Denmark, the temperatures are pretty simillar (winter tends to get colder in Sweden though with more snow. Sweden is huge though and stretches far up nrth, so I imagine those parts to be a lot more cold, with shorter days during winter and more snow. On the other hand, they have very long days during summer. XD

Oh that's nice. Is it possible to see that famous aurora sky (or whatever the term is) in both countries?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-09 23:40:23 +0000 UTC]
If there was a really strong sunstorm, then maybe. Usually you need to head further up north to see them. Some years ago I remember being told, that the aurora was visible from my parent's house after an unusually strong outbreak. As I recall it was very hard to make out though. Then again, whenever you are in an area where there is artificial light, things up on the sky will be hard to make out. It's possible, that it would have been a lot more visible if we would have headed out into the woods or something. XD

Good to know! I just saw it on photos and it looks so beautiful. I thought it can be seen more often though. So it'd be quite difficult for a tourist to catch it, right?

demiveemon In reply to rimiki7 [2018-01-10 00:02:15 +0000 UTC]
I don't know. I think it's pretty common in winter, since the nights are really long up north and with few people living up there, there's little light pollution. Sweden is most heavily populated in the southern parts, as the climate is milder there. I've never been to the northern parts. Halfway at best. xD

There you go. I'm experimenting with sunspots in the upper left corner, since it got so dark in there. I think the strong outlines contributes to the perseived darkness too. Isn't it fun, how well camoflaged that Lizard ended up? XD

I'm glad you do. I still have mixed feelings about the current look. xD Then again, if I look back at the version before the sunspots, there's no denying that they would be a more realistic part, than none at all.
