Description Finally it's finished and just in time!

This started out some time ago as a figure study/doodle of the elephants from my "Siesta in the Jungle"-picture. For a long time it didn't go anywhere beyond that, but then I decided to start working on it again and here's the finished piece.

*cough* That kind of was my revenge for him eating the tiger. I love cats and felines.

Speaking of cats, you have one, right? I saw the photo.

Yes. Her name is SkrΓ₯llan. She's a street cat I found a few years ago outside my parent's house. :3

I'm very happy to have her. Allergy always seem to get in the way of me having a cat. Even now it is a problem (my boyfriend is allergic to cats). She's likely to be the last cat I'll have so I better make the most of it while it lasts.

Not really. He's taken antihistamins before, but they make him drowsy, so he'd rather just deal with the symptoms as they come.

I think it's calmed down a bit again, but summertime is hard for him. He's allergic to pollen as well, and that doesn't mix too well with him being exposed to the cat as well, eventhough we keep most of the house a catfree zone.

Some might call it dark humor but I found it funny!
I like those tiny frogs you add everywhere. I just hope they can escape that snake.

demiveemon In reply to indesitt [2018-08-26 12:24:30 +0000 UTC]

The humor is a very important part in these pictures. As well as the many details to be found. :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

indesitt In reply to demiveemon [2018-08-26 12:27:04 +0000 UTC]

Do you decide about those details in advance or you keep adding them later on during the process?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

demiveemon In reply to indesitt [2018-08-26 12:29:31 +0000 UTC]

I decide on the pun first and the rest grows around the picture as I go. I think I have a scrap somewhere that shows some of the progress of the Siesta picture... *goes look for it*

indesitt In reply to demiveemon [2018-08-26 12:33:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's great. You can totally see how the picture developed there. How do you know when it's enough so that it wouldn't be too crowded?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

demiveemon In reply to indesitt [2018-08-26 12:58:24 +0000 UTC]

Hm, this drawing was drawn on paper, so when I had a detail that I felt done with, I would ink it and fill in foilage as needed. That also means that I'd reach a point where I wouldn't be able to add an awful lot more of details, as they'd be obscured behind already inked parts. I'm a sucker for a lot of details, as I've always enjoyed pictures that had a lot of fun easter eggs for you to discover and enjoy if you ever took the time to look more closely. Those pictures were far more crowded though and sometimes when I look back, I feel like I could have done a better job at adding something more, but I ran out of stamina too and the picture was on a deadline as well, as it was a contest entry. :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

indesitt In reply to demiveemon [2018-08-26 13:03:22 +0000 UTC]

I think you got just the right balance. If you added few more stuff then some other details can easily get missed, which would be a shame.

demiveemon In reply to indesitt [2018-08-26 13:05:49 +0000 UTC]

Even in this case I needed a few minutes to notice the small crocodile for example.

Aww, that's little Murph(y) you've discovered there. I was also mainly referring to the first Siesta in the jungle picture. I think I went wild with frogs in the third picture in the series.

That's the one. I remember counting all the tadpoles more than once, but I can't remember how many they were anymore. Let's just say there was a lot of them. :3

I'd be surprised if he can. In his defense, the number is just too big and all of them look too similar to me. ^^Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

demiveemon In reply to indesitt [2018-08-26 15:39:06 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yeah. My gut feeling is that he can't count very far, but then again, he might know them each individually. After all, we tend to know a lot of people, but it'd be hard to place a number on them if someone should ask. In the evening picture he seems to be a devoted father, who is trying to teach his kids some important life lessons. That's more than most frogs do. Although, there are actually some examples of poison dart frogs that take care of their babies and move them around on their backs.
