Description
In a war of ideals, it's hard to remain neutral. It's brother against brother, even amongst our ranks. The year is 1861. The United States is on the very brink of civil war. The Sword of Eden has fallen into the hands of an influential civilian, Abraham Lincoln. The Templars will stop at nothing to see it in their own. They are a house divided, and while it is something that should make them more vulnerable, it instead makes them far more unpredictable. They have the advantage. We must retrieve the Sword, at any cost. Sometimes sacrificing your pride can be worse than sacrificing your life.
My name is Daniel Marche.
I am an Assassin.
Disclaimer: This is a purely fan project by a few of my friends and I, and is in no way affiliated with Ubisoft, aside from the relation to their video game series.
However this uniform and character concept is purely mine. Please don't use without permission. 8C I would be very sad.

If you need a better idea on what it should look like, here is an example. The reason I donβt use this one is because one there are no sleeves, two the person is missing his left-handed ring finger, and three the hidden blade my character is having on his left hand is a pivot blade (like Connor Kenway).
So you can just improve upon it by adding sleeves, fix the missing ring finger, get rid of the sword and throwing knives, and put a pivot blade on the left hand.
Or not and instead create your own version of an assassin desert outfit (with sleeves and is white color) if you want.

One must do. I'm considering writing up a concept for the game--I won't use the name Divide, of course, wasn't thinking that anyway, was actually thinking of three games: like VI with two sub games in the order of Brotherhood and Revelations

Hmm, interesting idea on how you came up with the reason on why the Templars wanted Abraham Lincoln out of the picture.
When my brother asked me to come up with a storyline idea for a Civil War Assassin. I came up with the story that the character namedΒ BenjaminΒ JohnsonΒ is from the south, fighting in the war for his side. He was the stealth soldier, always assigned to take out certain Confederate targets. Then one day the Templars wanted Lincoln eliminated due to the fact he planned to free the slaves. See the Templers use the whole slave trade as ruse to capture assassins and easily dispose of them without raising any suspicion. With slavery against the law, they wouldn't be able to carry out this plan. So they haveΒ Benjamin kill some guards to clear the way for John Wilkes Booth to get to the president, only he had no knowledge of this. When he discovered he had unconsciously helped assassinate the president, heΒ flees, disgusted at the fact he made the assassination possible. He hides out in the north, not making contact due to the fact of how he was raised. With his new hatred for his homeland and his old hatred for the enemy, he realized there was no side for him to belong to. Eventually he meets Jacob Rogers who was a former slave as is a assassin. After a brief fight, Benjamin discovers the Assassin Order and decides to join them. He then plans to eliminate all the Templars and uncover the strange artifact the Templars are seeking. There would be mainly Templars in the south but there would be north Templars that gather information and try to make sure none of the Confederates manage to find a slave who is a assassin.

Our story is pretty in depth! Booth is a double agent in ours, and Sherman is one of the more prominent Templars. His march through Georgia was actually a tactic to try and retrieve the Sword from Assassin hands. But your story sounds really interesting as well!! I enjoyed reading your premise.
We kinda did an in between thing. Where Altair's story is a fall from grace and redemption story, Ezio's is a learning and growth story, we made this one sort of a test. Like, in this story, Daniel proves himself a great deal. But he also sacrifices a lot in the process.

A friend and I thought of this concept at one point. He thought that the South would be backed by the Templars. Me? I believe that the Templars have agents on both sides and are manipulating both sides. This Assassin will try to find out what they're planning and put a stop to it.

That's the approach we took! Mainly because there are no innocents in the Civil War, and I think I lot of people forget that. It was a war of ideal. One wasn't necessarily right, or even "good" for that matter. Too often is one side (usually the Confederacy) is made out to be the "villain"/"antagonist". But neither side was pristine. Just as neither side was inherently bad. There were a lot of grey areas in the Civil War. That, and I don't think that all of the Templars would have sided with the Confederacy. They were people, most of high status, in the country of the time. Of course their loyalties would be split.

The main qualm about the South is that they suppored slavery. The Assassin's would never stand for that.

demonsfearme In reply to JasonRyder [2013-08-21 20:40:39 +0000 UTC]
Slavery was on its way out. It wasn't economic anymore, and the South was suffering economically already, due to the industrialization in the North. Slavery was just a small bullet on the long list of things that instigated the war. The assassins also would have never stood for the blatant racism in the North, either. Freed slaves weren't really free once they made it up there. It was one reason why many chose to stay behind. They knew they would be cared for, even if they were treated like live-stock. They knew they would at least have food, and a roof over their head. It was a dark time no matter which way you went for people of color, unfortunately.
We decided the Assassins, despite their own allegiances, would do their best to remain perfectly neutral in the war. They didn't need their order divided. They needed all the strength they could.

You have an amazing grasp of history. I myself am a history buff. I always theorized that if the South won the war, slavery would continue until today. Like the mockumentary, The Confederate States of America. Many things are off in that mockumentary.
1. The South conquers the North.(don't think too many southerners wanted that)
2. The Confederacy bans all religions except Christianity(1st ammendemnt rights are big for many modern southerners)
3. The wars ofΒ AfghanistanΒ and Iraq are called the First and Second Crusades.(would raise morale)
4. Slavery exists even in the year 2002(would have been phased out eventually since it would become impractical)
5. The Confederate States become much like Cuba, an isolated dictatorship in a Cold War with Canada.
6. The Trans-Atlantic slave trade is revived and ends the Depression.(Most countries would not accept that)

demonsfearme In reply to JasonRyder [2013-08-22 00:01:01 +0000 UTC]
If the South had won, I'm not sure they would have made it very far. They were suffering so terribly economically, because they couldn't (Or wouldn't. The lines are kinda of blurry on that one. I know the North had a lot to do with keeping the South agricultural, but I don't think the South helped itself in that regard either.) industrialize. I think the Confederacy might have crumbled from that. But who knows. The Confederacy's politicians were intelligent people, back then. (I wish I could say the same for now. And I'm a Southerner. It's really pathetic.) So, they might have found a way to overcome it. But the take you listed is interesting to think about.
And yeah! I love history. And the American Civil War fascinates me so much.

Is it possible I could use this for my AC fanfic? It's set during the Old West but going through history Union soldiers wore uniforms like that still even if this isn't blue. Also, not to annoy you but I couldn't repay you in anyway. It's okay if you don't but I'd appreciate it if you could do somewhat like a comic book cover featuring the black figure of a cowboy standing in front of a yellowish-orange sun setting with a white Assassin emblem on it. Please and thank you if you do. I dunno if you can make it but yeah.

As someone who's a game design major and who dreams of creating his own AC game, I'm wondering if I can help be a part of your project. I love history and I love the theme of moral ambiguity.
BTW, have you ever seen the movie "Lincoln" yet?

demonsfearme In reply to Hellsender [2013-01-09 03:26:52 +0000 UTC]
I have not. I really should. I hope they expose a lot of little known tid bits about him. Such as the fact he was an incredibly huge racist.
Moral ambiguity is something we're definitely trying to go for with this story. We're definitely trying to convey that there were no innocents in the Civil War, only opposing view points. We have bad and good Confederate and Union. Even the Assassins themselves are divided, and many have troubles staying completely neutral in the actual conflict.
If you'd like to join with us, that'd be awesome! Send me a PM, and I will try to do a bit of explaining. It's been a while since all of us have had a chance to get together. I should perhaps start a Skype group or something for us all! Haha.

Hellsender In reply to demonsfearme [2013-01-09 03:34:53 +0000 UTC]
No, not in the slightest, he was depicted as someone very pure but afraid to get his hands dirty, especially when it came to passing the 13th Amendment. But then again, we all have our own interpretations of people, so theories of him being a racist is nothing new. But it's your view, so I'll respect that.
That's right, it's something they emphasized in the Third game (which could've been better, IMO). British are the enemies for obvious reasons while the Patriots are both allies and enemies because they want to rid the Natives from their colonies. The Civil War is a little more complex because it included more reasons other than slavery.
I've got a Skype account, so I'll be more than happy to send you an invite and we can talk more about our ideas. I had an idea for a spin-off of the series that takes place in the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China.
