Yayness, finished.The balls of light are crap, I know, but I got them how I liked and then they were lost to the computer. Any advice on that sorta thing, it'd be welcomed in spades.

Intriguing and captivating at the same time, Blue seems to remind me a lot of one of my own characters, with a complex life, personality and things they're both trying to accomplish.
I also particularly adore the outfit, as well as the flow. His face is also enchanting, sad, reserved, like he seems tired, but goes on anyway. Neat job.

And yes, I do. I try to see and if I can also define exactly what problems they may have, mental, physical, or something else, a combination of them, reasons why, etc. It makes them interesting to talk about.

This is some pretty intense coloring.
On the balls of light, though, I'd suggest this: Duplicate the layer with both of them on it, and then go to edit > adjust > brightness/contrast. Put the contrast up 20 (Or what you think is right) then go to edit > adjust > hue/saturation and put the saturation up 20 (Or what you think looks good). Then hit OK, and duplicate the layer again. Go to filters > blur > guassian blur. Put a big amount of guassian blur (Maybe 10-20) and hit OK. Then change the layer style to "screen." If that's not intense enough for you, change the layer style to "overlay" and duplicate the layer, or set the style to "color dodge."
What you might get is something like this: [link] Unfortunately, it kind of scratches out a lot of the detail in the light balls. But that's just one way.

Does all that work with photoshop 7, its the only program I have and I'd love to have a go at it myself (I like the version you've shown here, but it might just be slightly too intense for the 'feeling' I was looking for), I hate the affect of those light balls on this image, they spoil the whole things for me but I was at a total lose of what to do with them...
I'm really really grateful for the indepth advice!!

oh wow, this is excellent. i really love the detail and the shading and the highlighting. i love your style and attention to detail. you have a superb talent and fantastic imagination which is apparent is the majority of your works.
for some reason i like the way the fabric on the left leg looks a little unfinished, it gives a really neat touch, not sure if that was deliberate..
i sure hope you continue to do more, as i'll be watching :3

I'm not sure about the leg myself, I usually go with what looks right in an image and what gives it the best flow.

This is so amazing! What I love most about your colouring is that you can create reflective lighting - like the yellow in this case, look so natural and easy!
And those balls of light are great, what are you talking about?! The texture of his clothes and hair is perfect too.
The only thing I could really crit you on here is the lineart. There's nothing actually wrong with it at all, just so you know - I just think it would look a bit nicer + tidier if the ends were tapered. (=

This is actually a rather frightening image... i love it and am repulsed by it at the same time. Maybe it's something about the dual pasty yet muscley thing. That's always been a strange combination to my psyche. i wouldn't say the flame thingies are that bad either, so don't be too hard on yourself for them. The expresion on his face deffinently throws me for a loop... I don't don't know whether he enjoys his powers, of his life, or if it's just one of his angst moments, or what. I think i'd be fiarly angsty, too, though if I woke up in that outfit with skull-flamies coming out of my hands... *imagines it* yeah, that's a good reason for that expression.
I want to compliment your hair shine.

I'm usually confused with my characters too. Blue here, I have been working (drawing and writing) for about four years now so he has a really complex personality of his own. He's a very split creature, he conflicts with himself and I try and show that, I guess, when I draw him, which is often. ^_~*
I'm not sure now how I was trying to get him looking, I think semi-conscious, if that makes sense, not aware of the situation, drained and dazed maybe.
Blue always has that scary but tempting look; it's something I find fun to draw, because it's not one way or another and can be a challenge to get right.
He likes extra holes that God didn't give him, or so my friend and one of my main muses tells me... A lot!
