I have had my eyes on using this one for a couple of weeks but was going to do it in pastel (and still might).

I am very pleased with how this went as I thought it might be beyond me and also wasn't sure the idea of the spilting the canvas in half would work.

2 weeks ago I set myself the goal of being able to paint as well as I can do soft pastel by next Easter. Unfortunately I am going to have to set myself a new goal very soon as this is about 85% there and also very close to the style I want to paint in. I thought my progress with pastels was quick but this has astounded me!!!!

I am also surprised to admit that my hating painted has turned into loving it!!!! It takes a lot more work to get what you want by constantly adjusting things but I like the way it comes together.

This is an artwork that I constantly think about and think how I can use it as a basis for something else. This was incredible in my artistic developement because it was one of those that when complete I felt very good about. It was a huge leap forward as far painting was concerned.

I am still experimenting with which techniques / methods suit me best and must say I like this one better than my previous one. With this one I let bits dry and put paint over dry bits which felt better than doing it all wet on wet.

Its nice, its a very difficult angle to paint, its like this person is standing at the corner of some wall divided between dark and light side, vermilion was a good choice, i personally dont like acrylics, so i wont say anything about it but its a good painting. I'd say try it again, see what happens?

Yes it is a difficult angle and one i wasn't sure I could do - so I was very pleased with the results.

I wish i had the patience to work with with oils but I would find all the waiting for bits to dry too tedious. Maybe one day.

On my previous painting I did everything with the paint still wet but on this one I let layers dry and painted partially over them and i think preferred the way it worked.
