Description Rarity was heading over to Twilight Sparkle's house for the afternoon. With a big party in town coming up, she wanted to make sure that her friend was well dressed for the occasion. Rarity walked up to Twilight's door and rang the bell.

*ding dong*

No answer. She tried knocking shortly afterwards.

*knock knock*

Still no answer.

"Hmm, I wonder what's keeping Twilight?" Rarity asked.

She knew Twilight was home after all. She promised she would be for the rest of the afternoon when they met earlier for lunch.
Rarity turned the doorknob and gave the door a push. It didn't budge, just as she had assumed.

"Perhaps I'll check around back," Rarity said to herself.

She stepped off of the front doorstep and started walking around the house. When she got to the back yard, she quickly spotted the back door and headed towards it. However, as she walked along the back side wall of the house, a small beeping sound went off.

"Huh?" Rarity said confused.

"INTRUDER ALERT. INTRUDER ALERT. INITIATING DEFENSE PROTOCOL," a robotic voice blurted out loudly.

"Wha? Defense protocol!? What on Earth does that me-eeeeee!"

*SQUIIIIIIIIIIISH*

Rarity was interrupted mid sentence by a large heavy roller that had popped out of the side of the house pressing her against the wall. It pushed hard onto her feet, squishing them flat in between. The roller then proceeded to roll up her body, squashing her flat like a poster against the back of Twilight's house. It moved steadily upwards, flattening her legs, then her stomach, chest, and finally her head. The sudden squishing took Rarity by surprise, leaving her with an expression of shock and embarrassment as she laid plastered to the wall.

"Oooooohhhhhh... wh-what was that all about!?" Rarity said in distress.

She was so confused. One minute she was taking a trip to visit a friend, and the next, she was nothing more than a life-sized paper cutout version of her former self. Rarity stuck there in contemplation for a while until a small noise caught her attention.

*ka-chunk*

"Oh no..." Rarity mumbled as she looked upwards.

The roller shook a small bit before descending down the wall again.

"No! No! No more please!" Rarity pleaded.

Ignoring her cries, the roller moved all the way back down the wall, this time with even more pressure.

*SQUOOOOOOOOOOSH*

The second passing of the roller was not kind to Rarity's body, as it smushed and spread her out even flatter and wider than before. Once the roller had finished its work, it retracted back into the house, leaving its victim as nothing more than a wall sticker.

"Why meeeeeeeeeeee!?" Rarity groaned, now flatter than paper on the wall.

After a while, the door that Rarity was approaching opened up from the inside.

"Hey, what's with all the noise?" Twilight said, coming out of her house.

She walked out a bit and looked around in her back yard for a while.

"Huh. I don't see anything. Oh well," Twilight said as she turned around to head back inside.

Right when she turned back towards the house though, she finally noticed what was causing all of the noise.

"Oh geez..." Twilight muttered.

There she was. Her paper thin friend smashed thin against the back side of her house. Twilight walked up with a nervous grin of apologetic nature.

"Hey there uh Rarity... a-are you alright?" Twilight asked.

Rarity merely groaned in response. She was fine, but flustered and embarrassed by the whole situation.

"Heheh... so sorry Rarity! You see, I installed this new security system to make sure Pinkie wouldn't sneak into my house anymore and squish me while I wasn't paying attention. She likes to play little games like that you know?" Twilight explained.

"Ohhhh... why couldn't you just answer the door the first time?" Rarity said strained.

"I was in my closet, I could barely hear you! I was trying to pick something out for the party later! But I don't know, I couldn't find anything fancy or high quality enough for the occasion," Twilight said as she peeled Rarity off of the wall.

*schrrrrrriiiiiiiiiip*

Twilight looked down at her flattened friend in her hands. A sly smile slowly crept across her face.

"Although... I think I might have just have found the answer to my problem," Twilight said with a mischievous tone.

"H-hey! Don't you dare!" Rarity exclaimed.

"Oh don't worry Rarity! We'll both go to the party together, and we are going to look absolutely fabulous!" Twilight said as she rolled Rarity up like a tube and headed back into her house.

First MMD animation EVER! And the first animation I've done in a while too.
After I jumped into MMD, I didn't relaly want to make any animations until I learned how to do them the right way (because I know MMD can do that kind of stuff). That's why something like this took a while. And man this was tricky to learn. I spent almost a whole day on it just trying to grasp the mechanics of motion and motion capture in MMD. In addition to that, I had to make use of the transform tool in ways I've never tried before. But here it is! My first real MMD animation. That's what MMD is for after all, right?

I wanted to start off with a simple flattening animation. Though in an effort to make the quality better, I just kept adding little details onto it to make it look nicer, including facial expressions, blinking, lighting effects, and a return flattening
It just kept making it take longer and longer.

I also had a little trouble figuring out how to upload an MMD video to DA. In the end, I just made a video and converted it into a GIF for viewing. You can see the video version below! It's bigger, higher quality, and slightly longer.
From now on, I'll include the video links to all of my MMD animations in the description.

Hope you guys enjoy. Remember, this is just my first attempt

Beautifully smooth all of the way through the animation.
You must have worked hard to get the timing of Rarity's body
being compressed by the roller. You performed that perfectly.
Especially the roller passing over her a second time.

Thank you! It did take some work, but I'm glad I got it to look nice enough for you to like it.
And the second roller pass was just a nice little cherry on top
Why have one flattening when you can have two? XD

..or you can have yet, a third passing or a fourth.
It's an "overkill override" switch built into the trap
that Twilight rarely uses. XDD

Hahah tru! She'd probably use that setting if she ever actually flattened Pinkie with it
It'd render her so flat that she'd be as wide as the entire house side!

HighRoller1234 [2016-05-16 17:57:15 +0000 UTC]

This is really incredible! The animation is super smooth, and I'm not sure how you did it but the effect that makes it look like she's being squished as the roller goes is fantastic, that's not something I've seen before with 3D art.

Why thank you! It's all part of MMD. The animation and frame rate can be incredibly smooth, and the transform tool lets me make really convincing flattening effects. Glad you like it

That's very well done!Ā  I like the detail as the roller moves up her body, and then her blinking in her flattened form.Ā  Goes with the story nicely too.

Thank you! I really wanted to make her react to being squashed, both physically and emotionally.
Glad you liked the story too. Had a lot of fun with it X3

Duke89 [2016-05-12 06:40:13 +0000 UTC]

This is actually really good.

Maybe could have gone with a thinner/smaller bar because the detail in her body as she's squashed is pretty easy to miss. But then that's what gifs are for!

DepthDropper In reply to Duke89 [2016-05-12 18:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
And I understand. Maybe I'll be able to be more detailed in future pieces like this one. But we've gotta start somewhere!

Pretty good dude, simple for a first attempt but the animation is fairly smooth

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

DepthDropper In reply to guymcguyguy [2016-05-12 05:20:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, MMD is like that. Gives you very smooth animation.
But do you really think this is simple even for a first attempt?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

guymcguyguy In reply to DepthDropper [2016-05-12 06:05:45 +0000 UTC]

I was referring to the concept, not the execution, my bad there. The way she bends a bit as it rolls over her is really good.

DepthDropper In reply to guymcguyguy [2016-05-12 18:40:41 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay, I get it. I see what you mean, but I needed to keep it simple enough to start of course.
And thanks X3
