One day the demons get summoned into flower fields, scarring them for life, the next day someone holds a metal object too close to the wires...
Does it really have to be so rough just to summon an army for potential world domination, or other amusing hobbies? ;3

Probably why most arcane art students drops out from advanced rituals and summoning classes, usually turning to easier subjects like necromancy. Of course, there's the issue of material shortage, which isn't a problem when summoning entities from other planes of existence. You still need a degree in World Domination though. :3

That would be the logical choice.
It could also stand for secret (you never know who is watching, it is nice to keep such activity hush hush and all), synchronized (it is nice to have both ends of portals synchronized, otherwise your demon might end up too small or too big or too old or upside down, inside out {I'll stop there}...), summoning, sorcery. Take your pick.
