Description This is my most complicated Photoshop piece to date, with over 7,700 layers and a total file size of 2.2GB.

I've been receiving a lot of questions about how I manage 7000+ layers, so here's a bit of background: 7700 is the total number of layers if you add them all up from the many documents that comprise the final piece. The way I approached it is by creating the pieces individually and saving them into separate canvas groups, then importing each component as flattened graphics into the final canvas. By doing this I was able to keep the master file down to about 800 layers. If I had kept all the layers intact for each itty bitty component, I would have had to manage the 7700 layers in one canvas, which would probably have melted my computer.

Any chance you could get me a non-JPG'd version at 1680x1050? :3
JPEG compression makes me cry.

You bitch a lot for such a tough guy. And I don't know what you're talking about. Those things are compressed at 90% quality. It's not gonna get much better looking. Go have your glasses checked.

A: What gives you the impression that I'm a tough guy?
B: I have 20-20 vision.
C: JPEGs really do make me want to gouge my eyes out. For some reason all I can do when I see them is try to spot the lossy parts.

DerekProspero In reply to Abfc [2008-03-27 01:34:30 +0000 UTC]

Like I said, it's not gonna get any better looking. It may be JPG, but it's maximum quality settings. I dare you to spot a single artifact of compression. What do you expect a wallpaper to come in? 16bit RAW? Gimme a break. This is how it comes. Deal with it or gouge your eyes out.

Abfc In reply to DerekProspero [2008-03-27 23:06:00 +0000 UTC]

Okay, well first of all, 90% quality and maximum quality are two completely different things. And anywhere that two colours of sufficiently contrasting shades meet, you can clearly see a bit of loss.
And I've never even heard of a 16bit RAW... I was thinking maybe PNG-32...

Why are you being so hostile about this, anyway?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DerekProspero In reply to Abfc [2008-03-28 13:09:05 +0000 UTC]

Not being hostile, just joking with you. Why are you being so sensitive, Mr. "ShitPissFuckCuntCocksuckerMotherfuckerTits" I just think you're being an over-dramatic n00b. The quality of the image is top-notch. I've been doing this stuff for 15 years, and in 15 years nobody has ever complained about the quality of my images. I take great care to ensure that no JPG artifacts show up, and I can't find any evidence of what makes you want to "claw your eyes out." So if it's not good enough for you the way it is, go find another desktop. Don't be a punk. Here's a hug to cheer you up:

PS - a 32bit PNG of this image would be well over 5MB, if not 10MB. And here's a definition of RAW, for future whining: [link]

Well sorry. There's no sarcasm or joking font, in case you hadn't noticed.

And just for the record, if somebody were to like my work enough to specifically request a higher quality version of it, I'd be bloody flattered. I wouldn't 'jokingly' be rude to them. :/

This is purely amazing.
I'm in computer class now in school so the motherboard is really a familiar thing to me and I love the way the words light up every component in it's path.
Each light on the textured surfaces of each individual piece and every small line on the expanison card and all other things lit up so beautifully and it doesn't feel strange that I'm talking about a large mass of silicon.
This clearly shows how much work you put into it.
