Description
This is the first completed PRE-commission ordered for HEROES con. I make no secret that one of the MAIN inspirations for my current comic, The Wellkeeper, is the classic animated film, "The Secret of NIMH". This is one of my single favorite films period, and this is the first time in my adult life that I've tried drawing anything from... it.One of the nicest parts of taking commissions BEFORE the show is that I can actually scan them in for myself.

That movie is awesome, though I think the magic at the end was a little Over the top

Looks like an independent comic art from the 80s.

Superb! I've got the film queued as we speak. I saw it first on HBO as a kid, circa 1983. Your illustration tells quite a bit about the story.
My name's Greg, and you and I should be in touch. Please do me the kindness of checking out my DA page; I would be thrilled.
Favorite quote from the film: Justin: "You did it. You killed Nicodemus... that was no accident!"
Sincerely,
Greg

This is amazing work! This is my number one favorite animated movie, too. It is what has inspired me to go into animation.

This is absolutely stunning. The position Mrs. Brisby is in is gorgeous. I too, consider this to be one of my most favorite films of all time.

What do you think Brisby's real name is?
Elizabeth (or Biff) or Rose?

I have no idea. I don't recall it being mentioned or even hinted at in the movie and it's been decades since I read the book.

Dude, that's really good!
The Secret of NIMH is a good movie, and I liked the novel it was based on as well.

This is gorgeous!
You drew it in a style similar to Don Bluth's yet you drew it in your own style at the same time, making it look like an anime-form mixed with the original character designs. Good job!

Boss job man, you are a god of crosshatching.
I love NIHM too, though I wish they didn't make that lame sequel.

I'm sorry, but in my world there is NO lame sequel. Didn't happen. I LIKE my world.

Ah yeah, same way there was no sequel to The Fox and The Hound, or to An American Tail, or to The Lion King (Just to name a few old good movies similar to this one that got sequel-raped by greediness this last decade)

Fievel Goes West wasn't that bad. It was fun in a Spielebergian way.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. "The Secret of NIMH" is one of my "drop of a hat" movies. Meaning I can watch it at the drop of a hat.
In my new comic, "The Wellkeeper", the boy that's turned into a raccoon is named Sebastian Bluth.

Very impressive and what a coincidence. On graduation today they were showing a video about one of the animators of Don Bluth Studios and had Mrs. Brisby in the background. You just made my day much better Derrick.
