Description

After what felt like an entire lifetime trapped in various full bodycasts, the only thing that kept Anja somewhat sane was a hefty cocktail of various painkillers, sedatives and psychotropic drugs. In her hazy state, she often wasn’t entirely sure if she was awake or dreaming. However something she was sure that it had to be a dream when was her doctor informing her that she would get out of her cast - every time this occurred to her, she would wake up shortly after, still confined in her tight prison. At some point, she just gave up listening to her doctor as she could anyhow barely understand anything due to thick padding over her ears, and she certainly wouldn’t get out her casts.

As one morning a doctor told her that they would reduce her casts and a some nurses started to roll her out of her room, Anja just dismissed it as just another dream and drifted back to sleep. But as she woke up later that day, something was different: She felt colder than usual, and the confining pressure around her hips and shoulder was gone - something that never happened before in her dreams. Upon opening her eyes , the extensive wiring of her headgear and the halo were still in her vision, but the poles and bars of the frame which carried her since they re-broke her body were gone, instead she lay in a regular hospital bed. Instinctively, Anja tried to move her limbs. Her heart skipped a beat as her arms and legs, although still confined in casts, would actually move. Even though her weakened muscles ached terrible due to the sudden strain, she burst into tears of joy as finally there was some apparent progress in her healing process.
