Was watching this: [link]Suddenly noticed a startling similarity.
Decided that this is probably canon for any universe where Edgar and Johnny end up bros. (And I do love those universes)

Not to mention that there's a Dick Figures episode where Red finds an adorable kitten and proceeds to accidentally witness apocalypse meow. And I seem to remember you had a comic where Jimmy found a cat, and I can totally imagine him reacting in the same way.

Damn, I hate when that happens. And it happens to me all the time. I don't even remember what I was talking about, really, just that it was...something. OH YEAH, I wanted you to write a chapter with Edgar's motorcycle in it, I think. Motorcycles have been in my head since I started watching this children's TV show called Storm Hawks. You think that's unrelated, but it's not. And...like...I'm ranting. I MUST BE SHUTTING OF THE UP.

Isn't storm hawks that badly CG'd kids show about... uh... it's really just about motorcycles, isn't it? Is it the one with that green character? motorcycle chapter is coming up. Maybe next, which would mean two more weeks.

'Twas my first impression as well. The CG gets better (Or maybe I just got used to it) after a while, and as you get later into the show, the motorcycles start getting used less and less. And it does have a green character. His name is Stork, and he is AMAZING.
Aha, you have something vaguely resembling a schedule. I do not. I update whenever the hell I feel like it, which really frustrates anyone who reads my fanfiction.

Green characters tend to be cool. There's probably a trope for that. What's the point of the show, anyhow?
SPEAKING OF SUCH, have you gotteen anywhere with either of those fics we were discussing last thread?

Chokopoppo In reply to DesdemonaKakalose [2011-05-12 23:07:51 +0000 UTC]
Undoubtedly. Would it fall under an alien trope? There are, like, a bajillion of them. Green-skinned Space Babe, maybe, though attractiveness doesn't always have to do with it.
Well, the show...it is a kid's show, so for the most part, it's a series of generally unrelated storylines about the main characters battling the cast of antagonists, the Cyclonians, who want to take over the world(Of course!). Season two, it started Growing the Beard, and minor characters from the first season reappeared several times. That was also when the plot kicked in - essentially, the whole show takes place in this world called Atmos, and there's another place (the Other Side) which is...I guess like the afterlife, except...not. I mean...it's in a different dimension, but you could tunnel to it from the Earth. Or something. It's never really explained in more than vague, noncommittal terms, which leaves a lot to the imagination, something I'm always happy to exploit. Regardless, it's like 'no one's been there, everyone wants to go'. So anyway, there's a door that leads straight to the Other Side, but it's locked, and there's a race to find the key and Stork's role becomes more prominent as the series goes on, which is really what everyone cares about. Or at least me. Which is what matters.
OH. SHIT. UM.
I completely forgot about them. Well, not completely...but I've never had a seat and gotten to work on them when I do. My parents think I'm taking a nap, so I could probably work on it now.
AND THAT CONCLUDES THIS GIANT FUCKING REPLY.

Hmm. A very sexy beard. I rather like the "other side" thing--I can see how it would be most excellent to exploit. If it was my show, the exact nature of the other side would be the reveal in the big finale...
GO FORTH AND WORK ON THINGS. Seriously, I will never stop being in love with those ideas.
Also, I was at prom last night which is why this is so late. It was cool, we were on the second story of an arts and sciences museum. There were cupcakes, and they played DON'T STOP, BELIEVIN'~

Chokopoppo In reply to DesdemonaKakalose [2011-05-18 01:09:20 +0000 UTC]
Well, the show didn't get that far - it went for more of a 'the adventure continues' ending. I was mindblowingly frustrated at it, and yet, it was the only ending that made sense. Am I making sense? I don't think I am. ANYWAY
Yeah, I just started on a bit with Edgar. It's a bit difficult to get back into the swing, BUT I'M SURE I'LL FIGURE IT OUT. And in the Canterbury-esque one, I'm actually thinking about changing Tess's 'role'. I was gonna have her be from the twenties as a flapper, then changed it to 1911 as a Triangle Shirtwaist factory worker, and now I'm thinking more along the lines of WWI trenches nurse. SHE CAN BE SO MUCH, which is wonderful for me, but also way too complicated. At least in the Cowboy AU she stayed a vengeful working class woman.
Ah, yes, the song of GODS. Oddly enough, I'm not sure I'll be going to the prom when I'm old enough to go at all. Mostly because I'm pessimistic and think I'll be going alone, but also because I'm not a huge fan of parties - I can't dance, I'm not outgoing...from past party-experience, I'll probably end up standing against a wall in a nice dress, by myself, with a small cup of punch or whatever, finish it up, and try to get a ride to leave early. Maybe sway along if a song I know is playing.
I FIT IN WITH TEENAGERS SO WELL.

Ohhhh, damn. They pulled that with the Inuyasha anime and it was suck. Luckily, they just ended the comic book properly and yes I like Inuyasha DON'T JUDGE ME.
Hmmm. I like the sounded of the trenches and all, but it seems like it might be harder to get into that whole "I only have craptastic boyfriends and my friends are all jerks" thing. Maybe not, though.
Well, the key to prom is to go with the right people. You're better off not going than going with boring sullen people. but... yeah. If you don't like dancing, then you'll be bored out of your skull. Throw your own party, with disco rave lights and LSD and gay strippers and...

Actually, just like whatever you want. I'll be over here, with Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, but if you wanna hang with the long-runners, go nutzors. I just wasn't interested because Inuyasha is SO DAMN LONG and I could barely get through Shaman King. Which is also really long, but it was the first manga I ever read and I had nostalgia fueling me and ARGH 64 EPISODES/32 VOLUMES FOR THAT ENDING SHOOT ME NOW.
I figured the whole 'seeing people being crippled/dying every day' could screw her up pretty good, and maybe her fiancee back home was enough of a jerkoff for her to try to get away from him. Or maybe she came to the trenches to support him, and he was all 'oh I'm into whores now sorry'. And it all went downhill from there. And if she was on the German lines, I'd have a legitimate excuse for her being able to communicate with Johnny, and she'd be all 'so did we win?' and there would be awkward silence.
It's less that I don't like dancing, and more like that I'm shit at it and I'm too cripplingly shy to let anyone see me fail. EDGAR POWERS ACTIVATE
And what're you talking about, that sounds like prom but with fewer people anyway.

I saw one episode of Shaman King. ever.
Inuyasha is... kind of really bad and kind of really great. The love interests all have this interesting chemistry that you know you shouldn't support but you do anyways because it's... uh. I don't know. It drags on and on, but the first twenty or so are actually pretty awesome, and the first five or six are GREAT. It might even be worth your time just to read those six.
FFFFFFF. Awkward silence. <3 And communication would make the story flow much better, although it would be stunted by necessity. you know, seeing as it's an enemy language and she would have only picked up the basics. I like the second idea, that he boyfriend went and then was like nooooo. It's even better because turning down a steady girlfriend in a situation like that is possibly the stupidest thing a soldier could do for himself.
...I didn't see any gay strippers. I... I hope I didn't miss them.

The anime was so shit, man. They pulled one of those 'teamwork makes everything better' morals right out of their ass in the last episode. The manga was better, in that the good guys get their asses kicked, but they basically get a deadline of a few years to make everybody in the entire world stop being an asshole - it's designed to be an impossible challenge, and considering how every character just goes back to their normal lives, they've probably resigned themselves to the destruction of humankind. Kind of epic.
Awkward silence is my one true love sprung from my one true hate. It's so hard for me to write, though, so I usually just put in the words 'awkward silence' and then go have a drink.
Feh, you live on the tame side of town. They're everywhere at the dances our school holds. Or so people have told me, since I kind of hate dances and come up with bullshit excuses to get out of them. BUT HEY.

Chokopoppo In reply to DesdemonaKakalose [2011-05-22 01:00:06 +0000 UTC]
Considering it started out as a manga for little kids and seemed to grow progressively darker as it went on, I think the end was sort of intended for those 'kids' who would now be adults.
Anything with crickets is funny, man. They are the essence of awkward.
I'm not totally sure they were professional gay strippers or anything. I think that, after the circulation of alcohol (which the seniors at our school are remarkable at acquiring, apparently), a lot of people realize that the career they always WANTED to follow was as a stripper, but they just never had the courage to follow that before, and is it getting hot in here or is it just me, and then you've got gay strippers free of charge.
And I actually live in a fairly tame, artsy college town in southwest Michigan. WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO INDEED.

Well, I know I punched through the whole thing in a grand total of three days, but I'm a goddamned machine who finished a semester of summer school in a week and a half. Most people just don't have the stamina to read up on all of it. The ones who fan-sess over it constantly are the ones who picked it up when it was maybe a year old or younger - now it's over two years old, and it will melt the shit outta your brain if you read the whole thing at once. Well, even if they pass the bill, kids are still gonna be expected to wait until age ten. I mean, restrictions will be put in place, kinda like how even if you can drive at sixteen, you can't take other people your age in the car until you're, like, eighteen. So it'll be like that, only backwards. If you wanna be a kid hero, you need other kid heroes and maybe one mentor so he can die for your sorry asses.
Uh...I don't think so. Every year or so, the writer does a recap of what's happened so far, but those are friggin' giant text walls, though they may be more interesting to someone who hasn't read Homestuck. They aren't very funny, though.

Chokopoppo In reply to DesdemonaKakalose [2011-06-18 03:13:43 +0000 UTC]
Well, it's social commentary - there's no cannibalism, though. It's sort of like...I personally think it's allegorical of society after rebellion - they try to make rules, the rules fall through, one guy goes off on his own, a bunch follow him, boom, you've got conflict. So anyway, everything is symbolic and it was pretty much like an analysis orgasm for me.
And yeah, island full of 12-year-old British boys who are all shirtless, loincloth-ed, or naked by the end of the book. William Golding said he made them all boys because he didn't want it to be about sex - obviously, he didn't expect the yaoi shippers of sixty years in the future.
