Description I had sooooo many creative ideas for this school project but everything was rejected by the tutor because he thought they were too complicated. Also, I originally had another concept for this project but he shot that down too so..... I went with a concept which was the plainest, simplest, and hopefully most difficult to find flaws with. -_____-

I do NOT claim the floral design to be mine. It was taken off a fabric image and traced in Photoshop. (Not enough time, y'see) I still like how this turned out though. The pattern was lovely to work with

"TCHUA" = me
_____________________________

Since everyone keeps asking - What is it printed on? : Plain paper for the CD and card stock for the cover. This is just a mock up so it was only for aesthetic purposes. CDs + paper don't make a good combination in your CD-rom...

Good luck!

Izzysosa | Hi, I don't comment very much but your CD project beckons for the praise it deserves.

In addition to the asethetic pleasance of the actual project, what I found more exceptional was its presentation and how it compliments it so. Also,

upon futher reading of your comment, the mere fact of the use of simple materials used to attain such a fine final product add to its brilliance.
Your ability to elicit the proper aesthetic value from well-placed elements is admirable.

I find your control of your artistry rather enviable.

Although, if I may ask,...

How did you come up with the idea for this?
What design inspirations were taken into account?
What influenced the choice of the elements used?

Hi Izzy, thanks for taking the time to write such an elaborate comment about my work.

At that point of my life, control of artistry definitely wasn't one of my main focuses but instead I was concentrating on fulfilling the brief while satisfying the tutor seeing that it was my final year in uni. Haha but thanks anyway

This was part of a branding project so it was designed after the website that I made, and that floral pattern was the feature of both mediums chosen. I don't remember anything other than those details but this was a very simple project and brief so it was one of those works which I enjoyed more while exploring / experimenting instead of planning. It was just a good outcome.

Glad you like it so much

Well, this case was actually a mock-up so it isn't very sturdy or real.. I didn't send this out or anything but I guess if I were to create a real one, I'd pick some proper heavyweight card and send it to a print centre for printing. Good luck!!!

Hi!
I'm going to be making a CD holster myself in the end of this month and I was just thinking how you printed the photo on your CD. Do I need a special printer or something?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

designslave In reply to Krumla [2007-11-07 01:18:21 +0000 UTC]

It's just a mock-up, the CD doesn't work.. so I just printed it on normal paper, cut and paste.

I love it clean and fresh.. plus, I love white spaces ^_^ I'm glad that you accept the fact that your tutor is critical, dealing with it now prepares you for the market. That is one thing I learned from my tutors/teachers back in college.. it frustrates you at times, but once you get into business you feel that what happens in reality is not as hard as it was when you were a student

keep it up

designslave In reply to x-missworld-x [2007-10-17 07:46:53 +0000 UTC]

Yup, I agree but I think the real industry is going to be even more demanding. Tutors were frustrating but all this is merely the tip of the iceberg >_< Clients will be even fussier and more unreasonable! I'm sooo not looking forward to that soon

x-missworld-x In reply to designslave [2007-10-22 13:01:08 +0000 UTC]

oh on the contrary.. I feel that instructors are fussier.. everyone I've met or come across was nicer than my teachers (and more appreciative).. except where I work now.. when my GM asked for a website for the company, it was HELL (literally)
