Description Here's how the snowfall looked last night on our street, complete with eerie orange lamplight.

(That thin white line you see at the end of the street is a car's headlights moving by. This was a 6-second exposure!)

Thank you! I'm trying to perfect night-time photography, which is SO different from day shots. I did a shot in the back yard with NO additional lighting, and the exposure time was 30 seconds!

It is hard to do a good night photo. I've been practicing a lot, and I just make notes on what settings work and what doesn't. Keeping the shutter open for a long time is good (20-30 secs or so); and keeping the aperture very small (f/11 is good) makes a sharp picture. I also have the tripod and a cable release so there won't be any camera shake.

Thank you. I'm trying to do a little night photography here and there; it's quite a challenge, but I have all the tools for it; now I just need some pretty scenery!

I believe you guys got more snow than we did up here.

We only got an inch or two, but the real damage came later on, when the snow turned into freezing rain. Ice was all over everything this morning; luckily, it wasn't too much, and it melted away by afternoon.

Thank you, Nance. I guess you guys have had more than your share of snow this year, right? Certain states in the U.S. have been socked pretty hard with ice storms; some have been without power for extended periods of time! Our little storm was not a problem, as it turned out.

We have lots of snow, more than we've had in the last 10 years or so. But it's come gradually for the most part, no nasty storms. We haven't even had the bad windstorms that Vancouver and the coast have had.

Well, that's something to be thankful for. I'm glad it hasn't been too violent up there!

Arlington! Not much snow fell, but it was our first, so everyone was pretty excited about it.
