Very cool! When I first saw the thumb, I thought it was a fractal. Now I see that it's one of nature's fractals. Gorgeous shot!

Thank you so much! It does indeed look like a fractal when you look at the thumb. I was amazed by this, too. In real life, it didn't look so much like a fractal as it did spun sugar candy.

i same across this in 1footonthedawn's feature journal thing
and i could sworn it was a fractal
the fact that it's a natural phenomenon and not computer generated makes it even cooler

Thank you! I thought it looked like a fractal, too, especially the thumb. I see fractals ALL the time in nature (trees, geographical features on satellite maps, natural ice formations, ferns, to name a few). I think nature is structured like fractals!

Thank you so much, Barbara. There's all kinds of art hidden in icy areas, and I'm always on the lookout for them!

I know a place near my sister where one can find fantastic ice formations if the weather is right but this year we never made it there. Last year we saw great shapes but it was heavily overcast and the light was poor. Down here where I live we don't get ice, at least not often.

Places that have slow waterfalls can create really fantastic ice formations...wish we had something like that around here, but we don't.

Is this a feature which I see before me,
The : thumbcode : in my cache? Come, let me clutch thee:--
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still
in my newest journal of feature faves: [link]
Hear not my cane, which way I stumble, for fear
Thy very old carpet prate of my whereabout,
And take the present horror from the time,
Which now suits with it.--Whiles you thank, I drown;
Comments to the backlog of comments too old death gives.

My apologies to Shakespeare. I get about a thousand messages in connection to each new feature journal, so please do not send thanks; I do not need to be told you appreciate the feature. I'll know if I see that you found some new work to fave and love.

Please do tell me if you do not want to be included.

Thank you. Sometimes that puddle (pond) we get from heavy rain really does some amazing things when the air freezes!

I'm sure it is. Taking pics of my charms and now my jewelry, I know how hard it is to be a photographer, you have to have a steady hand and alot of patience and I don't have that LOLOL Welcome!

The one thing I like about winter is frozen precipitation (ice and snow), but I don't like it to stay around very long.
