Your shots of it are incredible! You always get the lighting just right and the focus is awesome! I keep debating (more like arguing with myself) about selling my excellent Olympus SLR film camera (I have a great macro/telephoto lens with it) and my current digital camera to get a one of the Cannon Rebel's so I can get crisper shots - but then I think how much I love the portability of my current one! Decisions, decisions!!

Thank you...mother Nature was on my side with this one. The Rebel is less expansive than many SLRs, but there are a few drawbacks, too (it's somewhat heavy and the viewing screen is hard to see in bright daylight). Nikon makes a nice product, judging by the pics I've seen here on DA, but I don't know if it's easier to use or not. Generally, SLRs these days have the bugs worked out of them and they are all pretty good, from what I can tell.

Lotuses are really amazing in person. For one thing, they are quite large; this one was about 8" in diameter. The center thing is the seed pod. They make really great dried arrangements, too.

I honestly don't know. But I'm sure people have tried to get some sort of extract out of it. Lotuses are revered by some cultures, almost to the point of being heavenly flowers.
