Description
It's been dark so long, the light is blinding. Its sharp harsh white rips my life open and shows, with naked clarity, all that I've been missing. At least the darkness lies to me.
~Just coming to terms with loosing a chunk of my life to mental illness
Mental health wise I'm on the up, but at the moment I'm tired a lot, which is frustrating because I want to do things but my limits are still small; accepting and working within them has been a challenge, but I'm getting there
I just want to jump on board all the things I've been missing out on! Been doing lots of pencil sketching, and speedpaints, since they aren't too demanding, and I can stay inspired
This is a 4 hour, polished up speedpaint, from photo reference. You guys said you'd like to see more of my rough work - So here this is!
The image is based on a photo I saved some time ago to my hard drive. I have a folder of photos of people who have left kind comments to me, who's photo look interesting, so I save them to draw - Sometimes I don't get round to it, mostly I don't like the drawings I do of people, so I hardly ever share or show them. I usually save the name of the person so I can find them - but I didn't here! So say hello if this looks like you and one of your photos! Thank you, and hope you don't mind! It's a bit weird I know XD (The likeness not great, sorry XD I got the mood of it though)

Well, the expression of her face seemed as if she is mildly annoyed by the light, but her focus rests on something ells, that I think she carries some... Affection maybe to it.
There is not the slightest hint of fear in her facial expression... She is highly beautiful though, and her expression is the "attractive" type.
The work of light in this image is phenomenal, although something seems a bit... Missing... In the hand, it feels like you experimented there a bit too
I love the color of how the light reflects inside the fingers, it's a phenomena that I know I occasionally love to just stare at it's impact myself... But,
It feels like you made it too bright, and... It lost it's sense of being physical... Kinda like that the hand got mutated into light, giving it the sensation that... It's not a part of the picture even.
Everything ells appear to synch well, and the general picture does draw attention, especially her look... Something just says "Beauty" in it...
So, aside from the hand... This is a wonderful piece of work! Although, it does not at all convey the feelings your verbal identification gives...
There is nothing of fear there... No sense of danger, nothing hidden in anywhere, and the light does appear just as ordinary sun light coming to a rather dark room... I don't feel anything ominous, nothing lurking... On top of that, her face gives me calm.
But, I'm glad that you are coming to terms with your illness

Beautiful work! The colors in her fingers really help with anchoring the feeling of harsh light, and as always, I love the way you blend both warm and cool colors so well in your work. Quit spectacular for a rough, I wish I could pack so much as you do into one of my finished pieces.
