Description
It's been dark so long, the light is blinding. Its sharp harsh white rips my life open and shows, with naked clarity, all that I've been missing. At least the darkness lies to me.

Mental health wise I'm on the up, but at the moment I'm tired a lot, which is frustrating because I want to do things but my limits are still small; accepting and working within them has been a challenge, but I'm getting there
I just want to jump on board all the things I've been missing out on! Been doing lots of pencil sketching, and speedpaints, since they aren't too demanding, and I can stay inspired
This is a 4 hour, polished up speedpaint, from photo reference. You guys said you'd like to see more of my rough work - So here this is!
The image is based on a photo I saved some time ago to my hard drive. I have a folder of photos of people who have left kind comments to me, who's photo look interesting, so I save them to draw - Sometimes I don't get round to it, mostly I don't like the drawings I do of people, so I hardly ever share or show them. I usually save the name of the person so I can find them - but I didn't here! So say hello if this looks like you and one of your photos! Thank you, and hope you don't mind! It's a bit weird I know XD (The likeness not great, sorry XD I got the mood of it though)

This is such a striking piece. On a more personal level, oh man, I hope things are gonna keep getting better for you. It's been almost 6 weeks since I got out of the hospital, and I'm so afraid that I'm not getting any better. I think I know *exactly* what you mean about wanting to *do* things, and it's so frustrating when I remember that I'm not in a place where I can jump in the deep end. It feels like there's nothing I actually can do, these days. Your art is beautiful, and I hope that it may always be a comfort and never a reason for you to think you should be doing more.

I am really struggling here for any negatives ok it's not a photo but i think sometimes striving for something like that and achieving it can then leave you in a state of nothingness i think there is something to be said for working on, on work that isn't perfect, it leaves you with you and humanity, perfection is artificial.
Positive:
You were working on instinct, intuition, you that's so important to art having you in it and not smoothing off the edges. This art work is truly amazing it's so full of life, i think this is the way to go forward, everything explains itself it's really good, i think this is showing the true blue not the one who makes it acceptable for us all to see the blue that's laid bare the very soul. People love only a smidgen of the true blue in the other artworks i think people will love the whole of blue ya know? It's scary and you'll be vulnerable but i think you have some solid support here. You'll be ok just gotta be strong like i know you are.
Summary:
In summary this is one of your best peices, as a rough piece no one is truly smooth we are all rough this is real life art.
I'm not saying your other pieces aren't not at all i just know from comments you made and how you make your art that there is some smoothing over at points and i've seen some of your worry over it being too rough like in your comments for this one.

I'm so glad you're getting better that you're talking about your story and being so brave with it i know you can do it!
Keep these rough quick art coming cause they are the next step.

Ahah, I'm sorry, when I read your description, I couldn't help but think "It's Platon and he's cavern!!" But actually I really, really understand what you mean. I may not have mental illness, but what you're saying about darkness lying and bright truth being too sharp or something... Yes, that I can understand. An relate a lot to it.

Glad that you are feeling better. and I must say this particular piece (despite you calling it a rough piece) is amazing! I think you did an awesome job with the texture, detail and usage of colour, the way you did the hair also looks amazing. It has been so fun following you on deviantart because I get to learn who you are as a person and I get to see you improve, it's amazing to watch. I must say you really have improved!
