it is always good to do any rabbets, or details on a picture frame while it is in one piece, so when you miter the corners together, or use a different joint like a splined miter, or a biscuited miter, you will get a very nice appearance which is what several companies will do, under my projects on here is a picture frame I need to apply finish to, but it is an example of what I am talking about. Keep on working at it.
