Other notes: Alice's right eye has been lost in whatever accident damaged her helmet, but that is a secret for now. Her years as a ranger in her own timeline did give her time to hone her abilities, but her behavior is slightly off-kilter, even for her.

Thank you! Well, Lume's role in that story is back on Earth! Without spoiling too much, here is the gist of things: After the Martian colonists flee to Earth, they accidentally spread the plague. Lume is trapped (which is against his wish, so it makes him REALLY MAD!) by a ranger who's gone mad with grief over losing a loved one, and has to weather in stoic silence for a time with that person, working for them and helping them. He doesn't like it, but he plots to escape and when the title character, Meridian shows up he is able to help her out in a very important spoilery way!

Pretty much! She was a total delinquent. Also, in the HS AU everyone was de-powered-- Alice without superpowers is definitely not very fast! She relies on the magic to help her train when she's a ranger. That's why when she's younger she's so weak physically.

Ah I see. Lume was always fast because of having long legs. And he was always running away emotionally from something. lol. As for when he got his powers. The Wind isn't necessarily fast but it's always on the move.

The story she comes from is set in the future! After the Rangers went their separate ways, Martian colonies were established by some peoples of Earth. Alice went there to start a new life. However, when a plague started sweeping through the colonies born of some unfamiliar virus, a mass evacuation had to be organized. Alice, being capable of superspeed, helped carry hundreds of the colonists to the safety of the ships left to return to Earth for trips back and forth; she was able to help a lot of people evacuate but was never recorded as making it onto a safety shuttle herself. She was presumed dead, but here she is...!

I missed this earlier! I'm glad you do, I've always thought the stories everyone comes up with for their rangers are very cool. In my original draft, Elizabeth is actually the last person Alice escorts to the shuttle, and they have a tearful superhero moment where she's like 'okay, let's go get the rest' and Alice shoves her into the shuttle and closes the door. In the story, that's how Alice's wish gets granted! But, you know, I never asked permission so I never made it totally canon, in case you would object.

That's how it works, yeah! I usually assume it's more of an out-of-sight, out-of-mind dealie. When she's around, people vaguely remember she's helped them out before. But when she's gone, they're like "who? eh, whatever."
Unless she looks you in the eye; then you might forget her entirely. Hence, she always covers her eyes.

How Interesting! Well no wonder Lume has trouble remembering her. He's hard of hearing so he tends to look directly into peoples faces, focusing on the lips and eyes of a person. This often causes people distress however since he generally has such a severe expression since his time under control of the Liberator.

^_^ Thanks. He's not Deaf but words jumble in his ears if he isn't watching. The sight of the lip motions and the emotions behind the eyes help him translate the words that are coming in. Otherwise... Have you ever seen Charlie Brown? The Teacher you never see? The one that you literally are never meant to understand? "Bwah bwah mumble bwah" and all that.
