I think Quentin Beck is magnificent as a king. Even if he is not a wizard-warrior from a parallel world, he is still majestic, brilliant, genius. He does not have superpowers from above, he was not subjected to genetic experiments, he was not bitten by a radioactive spider or he was not born by a god like Thor. He made himself a superhero. His will, his power, his intellect, his technology, his charisma and beauty are all real.
Of course, he is an antagonist, but deep down he strives for love, understanding and acceptance. As Quentin says, it doesn't matter how hard you work and how professional you are, people don't care about you if you don't have a cape and lasers - symbols of a bright facade image of a noble hero (public figures, politicians, celebrities, how many of them?) - if you don't give people what they want, they don't care about you... and what do people want?
The genius minds of mankind have investigated this issue many times and noted with regret the crisis of human morality and desires. All the troubles in the world are due to human desires. People rejected the beauty of the soul for the sake of momentary material pleasures, they insatiably consume, thoughtlessly waste resources, their own and others, and their actions give rise to villains and cause suffering in this world. We can go on and on. I'm just talking about one aspect of this message from the creators of this character.
