It's Vivian, from Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door - a really good RPG for the Game Cube. The Vivian in the left hand corner is what she actually looks like in the game. On the right, is what I think she might possibly look like if she was in a more humanoid form.
Vivian is one of the more interesting characters in Paper Mario. Out of all of the party members, I felt that Vivian had a real reason to stay with Mario on his adventures due to her back story. For starters, the true villain of the series is actually her Mother. Thus, she worked as a member of the villainous Shadow Sirens alongside her abusive sisters. Eventually, Vivian defects from the Shadow Sirens and joins Mario on his quest. She didn't have a good relationship with her sisters as they had consistently put her down. Although she suffers from an inferiority complex throughout the events of the game, she learned to respect herself as she traveled with Mario

I felt instantly connected with Vivian because I could relate to her. I too, have suffered through bullying and low self self esteem issues growing up as kid. And, just like how Vivian had learned to respect her self through her adventures, I became a stronger person through my experiences in life.
What's really interesting about Vivian and her sisters, is that they are made completely out of shadows. They can mold into the ground, wall, or anything that they can touch. And although Vivian identifies her self as women, she was actually born a man. Which is probably why her sisters bullied her so much. This makes Vivian the second transgender character in the Mario universe, right next to Birdo. Weather a man or women, it doesn't really matter because to me, she is the coolest character in the Mario Series.
When creating this picture, I decided that I would paint using water colors. The more I painted, the more I realized that I needed to learn how to paint better lol. Painting is a tough process! Very different from using ink to add color. Although, I really like how painting automatically adds a gradient effect with each stroke of the brush I make. All in all, I think it turned out pretty good.
