Shmups is a name for a genre of old school video game that usually feature a space ship shooting stuff in 2D game space but with or without 3D graphic. Perhaps you can find more info here:

Thanks! I was working on the camo, and for some reason got the idea of a gritty snow storm.
Its also an experiment in reducing render time, the background was pre rendered and pasted to the inside of a sphere centred on the camera, so it seems 'real' from whatever angle.

Once again, I'm impressed.
The dart-shaped design is a very nice approach, I could see other vehicles spawning from this.

Well, the whole thing actually started off as an excersise to try and build a stealthy looking mech, originally it was going to be angualar and pointy like the F-117, but the base shape I laid down with curved peices looked so good i just went with it.
Might try the stealthy design again sometime.

Ah!! Well, the original TDX-6 Vanquisher was a space superiority Mecha
But Im kinda getting a feeling this has a more 'Russian' feel to it.
so it might just go with the Russian Dreadnought, Imperator Nickolai II
