yes - her mother was still sewing tiny beads on the day of the wedding after a year of working on it - and some of the lace includes lace from handmade dresses in her religious ceremonies growing up - it is quite special thank you for commenting on it and checking it out

Marvelous work, and I guess when you said that everything about it was absolutely intentional, you said it because it's not 100% horizontal, but I think that the fact it's tilted a bit really tells us how shattered her sorrow actually is.
And that's why it's not just pleasing to the eye, but it's very deep and emotional work as well .
Well done .

This is a lovely photo. However, as most have seen this as a bride losing her husband, and the story I just read of her waiting to get married, I see it again differently.
I see it as a more romantic piece.
Maybe it's not what you intended, but it's more...
Well, the line exactly. "Till death do us part"
So they're together until she dies. But she's still as beautiful as the day they were wed. I dunno, it's a little hard to explain, but it's like...
The concept of a happy marriage together until they grow old and die.

Beautiful dress, by the way.

the story I get from this, probably more than you were expecting but it's what the picture together with the title gives me:

Marriage is what everyone had always told her to work and pray and hope for, to build her life around, and finally she'd taken the dream of her frustrated female relatives and made it her own. It was going to be perfect. There was never any other option.

As a child she'd dreamed mostly of throwing the bouquet and passing on that magic to the next shining young face. No one ever spoke of the bouquets she'd never caught in her own life. The doctors had begun making dour faces at her in the recent past, and it only intensified her search for Mr. Right. Marriage is what you do, what you work for. Why not focus more intensely on that goal if her time was to be short?

Her mother had been so happy to make the wedding dress. They didn't talk about the seams taken in as the wedding approached. The point was to hold on and get married, and everything else would fall into place.

Her wedding day arrived with a sparkling-clear dawn. Her mother told her, with a pinched smile holding so much unsaid, that everything was going to be perfect: decoraters and florists and caterers and relatives and even the absent-minded groom were all in place. A brief hesitation, a whisper-soft kiss on an unveiled cheek, the whisper that her father was waiting in line with the bridesmaids, and her mother fled to take her place inside. She had asked for a small moment alone before following Lohengrin's march into a perfect future. She'd been holding on so tightly to so little for so long. She misunderstood the feeling of relaxation just long enough.

They found her ten minutes later, still picture-perfect, draped gracefully on the steps just outside the church door.

________
(sorry for how dark it is, but that's what the title and the pose made up in my mind)

I'd glad you liked it; I had been nervous that it was a little over the top. It just seemed to me like she died waiting to get married instead of grieving that her groom is gone.

Actually besides the obvious story of the bride having lost her husband to death I see another story

Its the big wedding day and after all the happy preparations and arriving at the church she waits for the summons to walk down the isle to her future husband. She waits and waits ..

.. and after interminable hours later she is in mourning for a love lost, sitting out on the steps she looks out hoping against hope for her love to arrive and make this better. However in time she loses hope and lays down to cry while her heart wrents into two.

This is incredibly beautiful and the sombre tones are perfection for this story.
