at the picture and
!!! at that her mother sewed this for her!! The dress is simply exquisite! I am in awe... I love the texture of the gritty ground and the silky dress... Love the angle so that the dress is flowing out... Man, I can't get over how gorgeous the dress is! You have captured it PERFECTLY here! Amazing job! Do you have a full on shot of the dress? I'm curious to see the front
Mary, this is stunning!
And out of curiousity... what did you wedding dress look like??

i'll be putting in full on views of this dress in scraps later this weekend.
well i eloped to a beach so i got married in a white bikini and white chiffon sarong and barefeet and a veil. BUT - i did have a fancy reception when i got home and my dress was empire waist, creamy ivory chiffon over silk, strapless. i'll try to find a photo.

Hey YOU!
a - not me
b- not my dress
c - she so wanted it (the model and her dress) and we put plastic and sheets beneath the dress between it and the stone/ground etc.

Beautiful, Mary.
The contrast is just perfect, and the framing and angle, special.
A "classic" B&W.

The angle and depth is incredible. This is absolutely gorgeous...everything about this... Love the black and white! and her dress
omg! How beautiful of her mother to do that! Thats true family love
Not to mention incredible skill!
And you have incredible photography skills...between Isabelle's beauty, her mother's seamstress skills, and your photography skills, you have created an amazing work of art

This is wonderful, the texture blends, alone, make it a beauty, but the expressiveness/mood is so well composed between the positioning and the placement of her hands and face...well done.

Favourite, for all the things I've already told you.
But once again, I have to remind you - I LOOOOVE that perspective, the way the dress seems to come down to envelope the viewer in it's silken folds, the dark gritty tones, and the way she seems to be just collapsed there, out of life, out of love.

I love everything about this picture is perfect-the angle, the details in the dress, the contrast, the pose...it's so filled with emotion and you did a wonderful job of capturing that sadness. I love how the angle and the dress make it seem like the bride threw herself down on the stairs, and the contrast between the pure white wedding dress and the foreboding black mausoleum doors.

Wow that dress is truly beautiful. At first I thought it was she who was dead, but then I read your reply to one of the comments and you said she is laying down on the steps of a tomb. That makes more sense to the position she is in, and I really love how the dress flows back behind her as if she's thrown herself down and it is a stark contrast to the black forbidding doors of the tomb's entrance, signifying the barrier between her and her loved one.. hence the title. I also like the slanted angle of the shot, which isn't immediately obvious as the focus is on the bride, which I thinks works really well as it brings the viewer on the same perspective as her. Tis a brilliantly captured shot, well done!

thank you. between the dress detail and the rugged stone tomb/stairs - texture was easy to capture and play against the rought and smooth. i appreciate you noticing.

thank you so much

This is so beautiful...there's a definate air of melancholy about it.
This makes me think that the bride has had serious doubts about what she is about to do, and has either, as the title suggests, taken the most drastic of methods to end her confusion & sorrow, or, she has collapsed from fatigue in her stress.
Either way, this is one wonderful image. The detail in the dress is so impressive, and the tilt of the image really does add a lot...makes the viewer a little motion sick when looking at it.
One of your best pieces, Mary! Well done : )
