Eliska flailed her arms as Keeper 17 placed her on the bench in front of the Tactile Response Test system unit. "No! Hey, not so rough!" she complained as her hands were stuck into the restraints."Complaining is useless, Miss Lassard," the robot intoned. "You should save your strength for the test. Valuable data will be had!"
"Valuable data again?" Eliska mocked as she rolled her eyes. "Fine!" With a sour face, she let the Keeper bot fit her ankles into the stocks behind her, then huffed in annoyance.
"Program cycle: BEGIN!" the Keeper announced and the testing head lowered into place above Eliska's big feet. The pokey little needles started randomly poking and jabbing as her physical reactions were measured. This was the Tactile Response Test, one of the many highly scientific things in The Facility. A mysterious, enigmatic organization that was part science lab, part space agency, part... well, it was a lot of things. Little was known about its secretive founders Violet and Jimmy, no matter how deep sleuths have dug they've come up empty. Clearly anyone who has possession of starships and snubfighters can erase their own history.
So this Tactile Response Test takes about an hour and Eliska was now about halfway through it when she just couldn't take any more of it. Screaming for her mom, Rya, she just let the desperation flow like liquid pain from her mouth!
Will she make it the whole hour? Will the data be valuable? Will Keeper 17 get formatted because of his overly boisterous outbursts?

Yeah. Photoshop costs lots of money. Recurring charges. I bought Affinity Photo and therefore have a license to run it. It's on her Windows box, and on my Mac so I can help figure out answers to questions like...
"OMFG!! What the hell is the way you do this simple damn thing in this fucking app!!"
No, seriously. I understand why switching software for a creative pro is daunting. Everything is different. The problem was that in the two or so years since Vi had finished a piece, Photoshop itself changed drastically. So the two choices came to: Re-learn an app and pay almost $30 a month that Photoshop had risen to or: Re-learn an app and pay nothing at all.
The latter is far better for us po' folks.

I wonder what Keeper 17 will be doing with this data? Will it be used against her in further maniacal contraptions? Will Rya come and save her or has she already been sucked up into the pneumatic tubes to be deposited in the stocks next to Eliska, or is she sitting comfortably at home with her feet propped up? And what further plans to the Evil Jimmy and Violet have in store for our poor heroine? The mind reels!
