WARNING : Still Spoilers contained and unforgivably thrust at you... Heh, you thought Part II would be next but it was I, Part Φ, that would be next on the operation block of Yours Truly !

The second to be dealt with and the unfairly shunned one. The 1.5th JoJo and ace pilot, part of the storyline that brought back the classic horror and sunlight breathing karate to the forefront 9 years after the series ended...
However, I merely deal with 80% of George II's storyline. The other 20% ? You WILL see them later. I cannot conceivably go for the epilogue when I haven't reached the ending yet, now can I ? The 20% that replace them are mostly there to make things fit the manga's narrative IF I were to make an OVA series about our boy here.
Tsukomujuku seems to be the main concern for a lot of folks, but he can very easily be portrayed nebulously even without mentioning his name OR true nature. After all, he is just the pal who makes George interested in detective work and teleports him to a maze in Rome ( YEAH, THAT is a point that can more or less be switched around by having George visiting Uncle Speedwagon or something...). Look it worked for Maturin in the first IT movie ! Plus I did not deny his presence if you look...
IF ANYTHING, what makes George cool for me is that he IS powerless and a rather pessimistic introvert...YET when the chips are down, dude proves himself time and time again even back as a scaredy bullied 11 years old. That is the nucleus of his story while the metanarrative is merely an added bonus to enhance his character.
Granted, there are other characters and world-building elements that we need to see and that the novel perfectly handles. But there are things I'd love to see like Elizabeth trained by Straizo and her Jotaro-like demeanor in those days (as well as her gradual romance with George, Erina's strength of character as a widow and founder of the Star Mark Tradings AND Speedwagon finding oil in the desert. Oh and a horror prologue that show us how Dio fucking survives. UNLIKE the novel where he reaches the casket at night while it's open, in my interpretation, Erina closes it when she notices gutted fishies accumulating at the surface. ... but she still has nightmares about it since, well, I really wanna see Dio getting his fangs back instead of being a fucking meme.
As for Steven, Kenton, Darlington and Penelope, nothing to really change in their characterizations as they are lovable as ever. Their fates though go from similar to worse... it's the OG-verse, it is THAT cruel. Just as the ending here...

Look I wanted something similar to the ASB themes for each arc and this tune follows that logic impeccably. Kinda illustrates how this adventure starts as our JoJo is something of a wimpy loner initially...

01) Braindead Main Theme - Peter Dasent
The skin zombies...those fucking things are utterly terrifying and perfectly fit for this series. Oh and little Lisa Lisa explodes an asshole neighbor turned vampire while George stands up to the bastard. I also thought of this theme since this JoJo has major Lionel Cosgrove vibes...

02) Kiss From A Rose - Seal
You realize this is the best romance in the franchise right ?

03) Carrie Main Theme - Pino Donaggio
Meet Penelope De La Rosa and her freaky trauma-induced psychic mutation... She DID remind me of Movie Carrie when I read the novel. Her temper is just terrifying. And those locked rooms my dude...

04) Eleanor Rigby - Paul McCartney
Generally for them moving from La Palma to England. I know this song inspired Erina's name but it also fits the Joestars' situation around 1905 and George befriending the Motorize siblings...

05) Saturn Barz - Gorillaz
George being "teleported" to Rome, mass hysteria and the Tulpa Effect. Also his first kiss with Lisa Lisa...

06) Gnarled Situation - Kevin Macleod
The imprisonment (well he does pass that on to his son, great grandson and great great granddaughter) and the conversation he has with Darlington about all that happened in the fall of 1888...

07) Blowin' In the Wind - Bob Dylan
"Besides, if war starts most men'll wind up killers. But we'll all go on living as if that's normal."_John Moore-Brabazon.

08) Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
The aerial fight scene with the zombie pilots and main action piece. You have Steven flying (with wings), George fucking up skin zombies with guns and wing tips while Lisa Lisa gives the best argument as to why hamon is awesome. Pure fucking win. And if another idiot says "not canon", I say stick that up yours son, I always favor good characterization and adaptation over that.

10) Flesh To Flesh - Lamont
The tragedy of November 11, 1920. The few differences I'd go with ? Lisa Lisa and Penelope arrive earlier to help George. the good news ? All Antonios are destroyed here and there. No more skin zombies. No giant locked in this instance. The bad news ? On top of what happens in the novel, Penelope is also killed...

11) Sorrow - MGS4 OST
...as Griffin the Archanan put it in MIB3 "Where there is Death, there will always be Death...". After enough grieving (and how !), George's last investigation and suspicion that "Supreme Commander Cardinal" is an impostor... if animated right, this would be a frigging "Zack in Crisis Core" moment...

12) A Turn For The Worse - Kevin MacLeod
And for the ASB equivalent to what would be "The End Of Part Φ". The hell did you expect ? A happy tune? This ain't his son or grandson's parts...
