Description WARNING: More self-indulgence from yours truly. But if you've been following from the start, I believe you expected this as it is, right ?

This is another that was FUCKING HARD to pull off. This poster is the last one I have structured and sketched. Yes, even after the 2 upcoming ones (that I am salivating to complete by the by...).
Thing is, while Vento Aureo is very popular back in the rising sun land (or is it still Stardust Crusaders ? I mean they're the parts that got THE best animated treatment albeit by 2 different studios.) and most certainly David Prod's favorite, it is a mixed bag for me. I EVEN read the novels that were linked to it for a more fulfilling experience due to how, and I am being very generous here, LACKING the ending is. Remember that I am one of the few that defended Part V even back when we only had the shitty translation. I do like it in general and even go as far as to say that it held up better than its 2 predecessors story-wise even with its intrinsic weaknesses. The foundations right here are the Falcoon illustrations, the David Prod anime and that ONE follow-up novel everyone seems to hold dear (except when they don't, heh). And you knew this was coming since I drew Mrs Shiobana naked in a former poster. Epic foreshadowing !

It is clear that Araki likes continuity and lore the same way great white sharks enjoy human flesh and GioGio's tale is mostly for him to enjoy his crush on Italy and stands hence why it mostly feels like an aside. Then why the fuck did he drop the proverbial bombshell about Giorno's biological origin and not explore it fully ?
I 've read his comments about Vento Aureo and how he finds it darker than the previous parts (it really isn't), how inspiring the protagonists are (most are but only one gets a pay-off...) and the attachment he felt towards them (good for him... care to share said attachment on the page my dude ? Cus, I am still far more attached to the characters Araki doesn't see as grounded humans since he's not fond of the Hamon Duology...).

Now to elaborate:

* It is the darkest part ? Nope. These are WAY darker pbs.twimg.com/media/EEhmOcJWsA… static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub…  pbs.twimg.com/media/FE1FIGDWUA… . Hell the DARKEST element of VA is Giorno's origin but it's treated in the most "whatever" way possible. Giorno is LITERALLY the byproduct of roundabout necrophilia and nobody acknowledges that ?! Then again, at this point only Dio gets to be mentionned because whoever the fuck is Jonathan, eh ?
Seriously, I never felt Araki wrote anything as dark as Phantom Blood until Stone Ocean reached the swamp fight and then cranked it up from there. UNLESS Diavolo had a child prostitution ring by the side, Vento Aureo is only dark in the way a Guy Ritchie flick or the Mirage/Image comics of TMNT are.

* Does it have shades of gray ? YES... but it is neither the first or most effective one to do that within the series i.imgur.com/bRLeflg.png Also, Giorno's whole scheme ain't that different from Jack Marlowe's plan in Wildcats3.0 . If anything the WildC.A.T.S bunch are more violent and abrasive than Bruno's whole squad. With that said, I DO like how Giorno though he is standoffish and ruthless, still has a code of honor and lines he refuses to cross. For all his talk about how he, Giorno Giovanna, has a dream, he prioritizes the well-being of the squad over his personal ambition of taking over Passione getting mauled, dismembered, poisoned and exsanguinated an almost-comical amount of times. Wanna know my favorite Giorno moment ? It's the one where he proves to be the exact opposite of Dio when it comes to the power of creating undeads. Dio thrived in controlling life and death and had zero problems turning innocents into flesh eating abominations. Giorno was downright horrified by the fact that he made Bruno into an undead despite the fact that Bruno did not degenerate into a monster and kept his soul around... I think THAT particular scene never gets enough credit.

* Bruno Bucciarati... gotta go with the grain, he is excellent and the ONE protagonist that get a proper set-up and pay-off. And his tattoo is hilariously complicated (love Konpane's interpretation of its complete shape).

* I think Abbachio is constantly dickish to Giorno because as an ex-cop, he has a seething hatred towards pickpockets. Pickpockets, truly the most nefarious of criminals.

* Mista's tetraphobia makes sense for Japanese but does it really though for Italians ?

* You may not notice, but yes, I do like Trish. And yes, I find it amusing that Spice Girl is wise, graceful and soothing while King Crimson is a raging lunatic.

* Speaking of novels, there are mainly 2 of them. One I DO like despite being a bit on the overrated side and one that could've been good till I realized that it made a certain fan-favorite (and I do NOT share sentiment !) a colossal piece of shit. I am talking about Panacotta Fugo , wielder of the poorly thought-out stand Purple Rabies. See, if I learnt anything from "Purple Haze Feedback" it's that EVERYONE involved in it is far more interesting than Fugo ! Hell, even Diavolo's drug road is far more clever a concept and the stone mask that Vladimir knew of should have had a whole story about it (instead of the weak payoff it got). And it is a more effective closure overall to Part V than the (lack of) one we got. Honestly, the Rolling Stones arc is utter shit and a vastly inferior retread to what was done great with Baron Zeppeli before. Here ? It's so fucking tacked-on and infuriating considering that no mention is made of Polnareff meeting Dio's fucking abandonned son right fucking there INSTEAD. That's a double strike against it.
Then there's "Golden Heart Golden Ring" which is fairly decent and a fairly compelling protagonist in Coniglio ...till I remember that Fugo fucking sarin-gassed a whole hotel floor of innocent people with his stand. Look, there's a difference between "gray area morals" and "wanton genocide" so you won't fault me for striking it out from here (forcing me to add Koichi instead , goddamnit !).
On Fugo himself, I am well aware that he should've been a traitor initially but Araki found it too depressing (really ? Where the fuck was "too depressing" when Jonathan's corpse was defiled for a century ? Or when Diavolo got the fucking Kenny treatment ? Or Kars' obsession with scientific progress ? Or any of the Zeppeli's backgrounds ?! Cus those would qualify more in my humble opinion!) and just had him leave Bruno's squad. Thing is, I always felt this dude ended up a wet petard because Araki did not pull the trigger. I even would've liked seeing him pulling a return during the "race to the Arrow" and redeeming himself on my eyes ... nope. I genuinely find any and all videos about the "greatness" of Fugo fucking asinine.
HOWEVER, there's this one excellent fan comic that did what both Araki and David Prod pussed out on doing and made him finally interesting. And I mean REALLY interesting, not some youtubesque claptrap "DEEP" interesting. His portion here is based on that particular title mangadex.org/chapter/c3a6cddc-…

* La Squadra is based on their anime portrayals. Why ? Cus their screen depiction is a triumph compared to the "jobber of the week" format the manga goes with. The few minutes they got added to them did WONDERS for these bastards and I feel somewhat attached to them. THIS is what the anime should've done from the fucking beginning ! Add scenes, diminish the narration... and let the action tell us all. MORE INTERACTION in a handful of minutes is what any adaptation should do. Plus, Risotto Nero being shown very early on increased my already sizable affection for him. Finally, Part V is almost the gang war it should be !

* Diavolo... already said what I needed to say a long time ago. He is a paranoid asshole, he is rapacious to the point he does not even enjoy the quirks of being a Don, he wants to murder his daughter just to cover his tracks... but he's also too fucking funny for me to hate ! Him overcomplicating his life in Vento Aureo is a TREAT and I am sad that few see the dark humor in his entire plan. His Doppioness is priceless and King Crimson's already considerable "Nic Cage" energy is cranked up to 11 in the anime ! Did you see all his facial expressions ? Amazing XD. My Dude deserved a MUCH better send-off than what he got (dying to the hobo under the bridge ? JUST THAT would've been pristine as a closure on so many levels). To do the pink-haired paranoid wreck's stand justice, I had to fuse 2 memes together i.guim.co.uk/img/media/dd3882c…
i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/ne…
Kudos on the anime to also improve on his past and elaborating on it ! And giving Donatella an actual goddamn scene !

* Funny how most people complain about Polnareff's inclusion. Thing is he was NOT supposed to be there and Araki just added him at the last minute. I am honestly glad he did cus for once Jean-Pierre is treated seriously and Doug Erholtz gets to mispronounce french words half the time ! Putain ça déchire !

* Now about the arrow. Oh boy, Araki should've really sat down with some assistants and set the rules behind the stand arrows. In Part 4, it was interesting enough to have an occult artefact that has a will of its own. Sure, it's a plot device to the 1000th degree BUT at least it has that the occult/black arts mystique to it and the mystery behing it is compelling.
Then Part 5 screws it up HARD and makes a different arrow design BUT it's totes the same you guys except no because the old design is used in the very same chapter and BAM you have the Requiem stands that are like "Bites The Dust" EXCEPT NOT and also Alien virus you guys... And yet I am the only one who finds the meteorite origin stupid as fuck apparantly. And the punchline ? It does NOT EVEN MATTER ! It is not even adressed ! Now that I think about it , why arrows specifically ?
You know what ? I'll say it, the Stone Masks were way better thought out and actually consistent ! The way they're used, the purpose they hold and the 2 distinct models Kars created are designed differently for a reason. The "science gone mad" mixed with "ancient fae" in the mask's origin is BRILLIANT and it's gone way too underappreciated for too long. Worst parts they say ? Fuck off, they can.

Anyhoooo, LET's ROCK !

00) Vento Aureo - JJBA ASB OST

Pretty suspenseful tune. Not joyous but definitely has a call-to-action vibe to it...

01) Dream On - Aerosmith

After saving some dude, the timid little Haruno becomes Gandalf Junior and aims to grow trees, but not just any... woops wrong version. So he aims to take over Passione to basically turn into the Halo Corporation... no, I am not letting this comparison go.  Speaking of backgrounds, here's the best version of Giorno's  imgur.io/r/StardustCrusaders/f…

02) War Pigs - Black Sabbath
After stealing a luggage, convincing the licking guy with the world's most powerful bobcut ever to ally with him rather than off him and accepting the Passione test from Fat Bastard's older cousin, Giorno confronts Black Sabbath with Koichi's help. And after getting his pin's of admission, Giorno gives Polpo some lead as dessert due to not taking kindly to innocent janitors being killed.

03) What's Up Guys ? - Bakuretsu Hunters OST
Nothing to add, the fan-opening is awesome to this day, so I will honor it whenever nothing can top it.

04) Junk - Air Jane
Because the assassination Squad deserves its own tune. And since they don't have a really laudable goal aside from taking over the drug trade because the boss refused to grant them a raise, might as well go with this. And good on the anime to have Cioccolata turn Sorbet into delicious cold cuts ! That was a stroke of genius. Fits his M.O. better than the Boss, who's much more expeditive...

05) Death Don't Have No Mercy - Grateful Dead
Ah yes, the time where Bruno managed to kill off a psychotic fisherman and his brother, the dude that has the coolest suit in this part.

06) Kill'em All - Ox

Pretty much covers the Breeding Fetish Creep and AVGN fights. I gotta say, I love the Giorno/Mista team-up, they really complement each other in action scenes.

07) The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson

So Bruno gets Trish to her deadbeat father who turned out to be a demented nutbar with a noseless Nic Cage as a Stand, the ever-elusive Scarlet Sovereign. He also skips time and reads 10-second later spoilers to avoid impact and pain (and no, he knows he is not invincible despite his boasts and that is why he fights like a sniper) and yet makes his life harder than it needs to be. I mean, why not just wait for Trish to arrive, order Bruno to leave and THEN kill her ?

08) Higher - The Score
And thus, Bruno, being against filicide, decides to turn his back on Passione. Granted all but Fugo decide to follow him (well, Giorno was already there to take down the Don, THIS gives him way more of a justification to do so...).

09) Still In The Dark - Guilty Gear XX

This is my favorite Narancia fight overall, him gunning down a gay couple that made him a liar and threw a shark at Giorno's throat. Granted, Squalo and Tiziano did not kiss when they had the chance so this defeat is clearly their fault.

10) Treachery - Bleach OST
Why yes, I am including the "Judas Iscariot" one shot here son. I already told you, characterization is what drives yours truly. That's how it's been from the 1st poster and the 2nd one should've made it clear. Keep that in mind for the next last 2 ...

11) Fighting of the Spirit - Tales Of Phantasia Remix by S.S.H
The one personal fight Trish gets and it's one of my favorites, proving that dissociative personality disorder can lead to something good. I mean if her dad has the Doppio/Diavolo personas, what will she look like when Spice Girl fully takes over ? Infamous C.H.U.N.G.U.S is a nightmare to deal with indeed ! I do wonder how that job interview went for Carne...

12) Seek & Destroy - Metallica
I really think that Risotto's stand is one of the most haxxed ones out there... and one of the coolest hands down. I  do love how he was killing the Boss gradually but then fell to his own Achilles heel; THEATRICS ! And Diavolo's precognitive abilities (along with Aerosmith's timing) did save his and Doppio's asses there !

13) Epitaph - King Crimson
While Abbacchio may have been savagely eviscerated, his Moody Blues (who has one thicc butt I have to say) managed to clue them in on the Boss actual face. THIS sets-up the last stage of this story !

14) Ready To Die - Andrew W.K.

Cioccolata and Secco are up to the task. Italian Mengele is up there committing mass genocide until Giorno treats him like he would treat his Vampire dad and finds the most fitting resting place for the good Doctor (and showing that recycling is important, kids). Then Secco disappoints all the fans of the Gimp from "Pulp Fiction" by showing that he's a self-centered inconsiderate slut, tarnishing the good name of all Gollum-looking sex slaves out there. His Universe 37 counterpart would be so ashamed !

15) 21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson

The reveal of the connection and past confrontation Polnareff had with the Boss (again, kudos to David Prod for having the concerned characters narrate and elaborate on the events. Also, isn't it ironic that Diavolo reduced the number of gangs by making it pretty much a monopoly ?). And Diavolo reveals himself to be disguised as a raver... that way he should be completely unconspicuous! Still should've gone with the Groucho glasses methinks.

16) In The Mouth Of Madness - In The Mouth Of Madness OST

So Silver Chariot becomes an eldritch abomination that affects souls within its vicinity and souls get swapped which is hilarious... I wish this nightmarish effect got better established mechanics though. And that the Requiem arrow was SET as something different from the regular ones. Goddammit.

17) Crimson King - Demons & Wizards
I will associate this to the race for the arrow. For all my issues with the pay-off of Part V, Diavolo's desperation and frustration at being sabotaged by the gang through and through is definitely worth the price of admission.

18) CREEPYMANE - BLAST
So Giorno turns Gold Experience into a goddamn biblical angel to take down the boss. Bear in mind, while there are things I don't like with GER like Araki exploring JACK FUCKING SHIT with its implications and the fact that part of GioGio's soul became a completely distinct entity, I don't hate GER in and on itself. Its eldritch horror cachet is definitely there, but more should've been done with it. Also, making Diavolo a vegetable would've been so much more fitting than the infinity death loop bullshit.

19) Machine Gun - Jimi Hendrix
And thus "Purple Haze Feedback" happens. Why? Well, first off, Vladimir, Angelica, Massimo and Vittorio are damn cool (especially Vlad ! I can totally see Diavolo hiring this guy to coordinate the drug squad...). Second, I already drew Massimo in the Part IV poster so you KNEW he was coming here. Third, Sheila E and Cannolo are also damn cool, so they deserve to be right there. Fourth, even if it's not an ideal closure (I repeat, the best ending for Part V IS Giorno discovering his horrific origin and I'll always stand on that hill.), it is at least a goddamn closure unlike the original where it's just a shitty filler add-on (I DESPISE the Rolling Stones arc and his hamfisted bullshit !) and then BAM, Giorno's the Don and farewell cus Araki ain't coming back to this... so yeah, I went with PHF as an ending here and it won't be the only non-Araki story I've refered or will refer to.

20) The End Of Part V - JJBA OST

You know what happens next... the last 2 to go...I need to be HARD & MOTIVATED !
