To this day, none of the other JoJo main villains reached the level of douchebaggery Dio did. Yeah, yeah, I know, mudamudamudawrryyyyzawarudo, there, now with the memes out of the way, let's talk character.

Yes, I recently read the Over Heaven novel...it fits with what a rambling madman would say, so, thumbs up !

The really tragic part of Dio is NOT that he grew up in the slums before his adoption... it's that he NEVER understood or wanted to acknowledge that the Joestars accepted him as family. But he's too prideful, vindictive and selfish to properly question his choices and he chose the easy way out by becoming a human-consuming monstrosity.

THE scene that sums up Dio's whole character for me is when he made a woman eat her own child. He was acting all classy and sophisticated about it, he absolutely did not need to do it, yet he did cus might makes right.

His character development is still held back by his biggest flaws: pride and rage. When Dio feels that a situation eludes or that he gets hurt by surprise, he devolves into a rabid rageaholic. Against Jonathan, it cost him his body as well as the vast majority of his great vampiric abilities and against Jotaro, it literally ended him as he overlooked the biggest weakness related to Stands.

What about Pucci you ask ? Isn't he kind to him in Part 6 ? Well , I'll answer with the proper question; don't you think the consumate egomaniacal liar knows a thing or 2 about steering people in HIS direction ?! It's not all that different from when he philosophizes with Enya. Just because he acts nice means nothing, Dio just recognizes an asset ! You'd think he would give a fuck if Enrico did not develop White Snake ?!

Another aspect that nobody adresses is how his death is the exact opposite of Jonathan's.

Jonathan's death was tragic and unfair but I never felt let down. He went out like a fucking champion, despite acknowledging how short his life was overall, and was thinking of Erina's safety while barely being able to breathe... until he could not go on anymore.

Dio on the other hand, deserved everything that was coming to him (and them some !). He dispatched caution right after drinking Joseph's blood , went at it like the vile beast he is, underestimated Jotaro's Star Platinum and died pathetically as a result. The fact that the vampiric cult-leader with a broken Stand power went out like a Hokuto No Ken villain and in a fight he had the upper hand in is pure catharsis !

My favorite Dio theme ? Considering he's a mixture of Lestat and Kurt Barlow, this wins it hands down www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc0LhF…

While I think Patrick Seitz and Jean-François Vlérick are his best voices, I do not find his old OVA voice to be bad. He sounds old ? Well he's aroung 124 years and spent a century under water in a coffin he had to hold onto after the boat exploded, so I think a damaged throat can be forgiven...
