Description How often is it that the criminal gets a chance for self-reflection? Specifically in the tool he uses to commit the crime?

Is the weapon the real threat? Or the face reflected in it?

I took a couple pictures that look like i cut my wrist and i took them in B & W and i used chocolate syrup and i got the idea from Alfred Hitchcock (good man) anyways, but i didn't think about the food coloring. And its so annoying that everyone was like did you cut your self. But yeah you should go and check them out, they look half way real, not as real as yours but half way

Bad memories, yes. In fact, if you look close enough you'll see skin grafts - one of which was caused by glass years ago. But somehow, doing art like this is liberating. I'd rather confront this part of me then hide it. Hence the reflection in the mirror after the deed is done.

Thanks for looking.

Awesome representation. It would make things more reflective if one could reflect upon things in the weapon.

devilock77 In reply to ash4love [2005-10-02 03:10:22 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much. in this case, the weapon is not so much a broken piece of glass, but the face that is reflected in it, for he is the greatest threat to himself.

Bravo <3 Clever shot but the lighting looks.. I dunno. Dulls it. Maybe something brighter and less warm?
I'm just gonna -hope- that's stage blood, rather than asking. I get the same question all the time, so I know it gets annoying.

thanks for the advise, I only did a little post production on it so I'll update the photo later once I do it. I took the photo just a few hours ago...

And yes, it is chocolate syrup with food coloring. Although it should make you wonder how I thought of this concept...

glopetyglop In reply to devilock77 [2005-10-27 16:08:53 +0000 UTC]

mhum.... good shot yeah, but i think your concept is lack of truth, i mean, using syrup you're lying to all those who truly did it before, and felt what you want to show.
that's just my point, anyway, good work

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

devilock77 In reply to glopetyglop [2005-10-27 16:35:28 +0000 UTC]

Actually, go down a few comments and you'll see that I said that there is a skin graft visible in the picture that was caused by glass years ago. This picture is therefore a complete manifestation of truth.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, pictures of real SI is not allowed on DA.

i'm sorry to continue my way, my left arm is full of scars, so many that i can not count them, i certainly know (more or less) what your work might represent for you, but i can not accept the idea of presenting such a concept, with false technics.... mhum that's not easy to explain with words... on the visual art's side that's well done, but, it's your face we can see in the mirror, so that it can't be us, you 'are' self-mutilating, but you can't take this picture (as it was made) while. There appears the lack of truth, as clear as i can explain it, sorry, it's hard for me to find my words today.

can you help the french i am telling me what SI means exactly ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

devilock77 In reply to glopetyglop [2005-10-27 23:34:30 +0000 UTC]

SI = self injury

Apparently you've never read the DA policy toward submitting work depicting SI because if you did you would know that they “do not allow real-life self injury and mutilation to be displayed here.” I recommend that you read this: [link] before you go around telling everyone who submits work depicting SI that they are lying to you.

glopetyglop In reply to devilock77 [2005-10-28 05:57:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank for your advice, i already read it, i just didn't know what SI meant.
I do not tell everyone who submits such work they are lying, i'm just saying that your photo isn't realistic, you cannot take that shot while doing it. The fact it is a fake isn't really important, if only it's realistic.
Sorry, i do not want to offense you in any way, i don't master english language then i can badly express myself sometimes, but all i'm trying to tell you is not that your work isn't good, it is obviously, but submitting a non-realistic photo on such a sensitive topic, i feel it as a lack of truth.

After all, that's only my point

o.o Chocolate syrup with food coloring? .. wow.. very clever. I can't say I've ever used that before.
Corn syrup and food coloring, sure.. but chocolate syrup? That's outside the box.
