Description
This is first cover of many now that I'm the new cover artist on Deadpool. Using the color rendering technique that I talked about on the Hitman Monkey no. 2 cover. It's fun. Hell, the cover was fun.Hope you all approve.

Yeah. You caught me, haha. But as I get older, I realize one thing....nobody is gonna buy the book because I hand drew a background or not. And time was thin, so you have to make artistic choices.

I'm probably just being picky but the flags on the dead guys, shouldn't the word bang be upside down? and compared to the one in the gun barrel wouldn't the flags be inside the wound? or at least have a lot more of the stick/dart sticking past the flag part?
other than that I really dig the idea. and the execution. the mimicking real media with photoshop looks boss.

Looking good. As usual you have an eye for interesting composition, the colouring is very nice as well, you should definitely explore this track further. I'd give the flags on the bodies some shading though, look a bit pasted into the pictures because they lack a light source.

i absolutely love the way the colors were applied on this. i do have a question about the background: were the rafters on a seperate piece of paper?

Just a photo I used a stamp filter on. I didn't have a long time on this one and needed some short cuts.

What are your philosophies regarding the use of photos in your work- when you use them and why- how you use them. What you think is out of bounds (if anything). Your recent comments on the use of computers got me curious...

Nothing is 'out of bounds' as far as getting the job done. What I'm trying to say is that you should make sure that your 'style' is represented. Sure I used a photo for the background, but it was a small part of the illustration. The main part of the piece is what holds my artistic point of view. Hopefully, if you know my work, the illustration has my finger prints all over it. Sometimes, artist that use new and exciting technologies forget to make the art 'theirs'.
