Yup! Pre-Canterlot Equestria? Thats my concept of The Ancient castle of the Royal sisters or whatever it was called
This idea hit me when I was re-watching FiM pilot for no parent reason whatsoever. I'm guessing Everfree forest wasn't that big back then or the ruins were actually on the other side of it. It was just my silly guessing. I will be very unhappy if they show this castle fully intact in season 4.
Lots of happy colours in this one. Even my *.psd file was actually named colorfulland!

I completely forgot about the Royal Sisters castle and was convinced that it's Canterlot somehow. Therefore my first thought was "the castle was the first, then they built the mountain". Genius.

A friend and I are carefully collaborating a story to be posted on fimfiction.net and fanfiction. The story is about the founding of Equestria's kingdoms, and specifically the Kingdom of Evefree, I was curious to know if you would allow me to use your art as the cover art for the story for which you will be credited. However I do have one concern is that your art may not fit the vertical shape in which case we would have to clip it to just the castle.
Do love the fact that you made Celestia with solid pink hair, that fits perfectly and I agree with it one hundred percent, also love the doctor whooves easter egg in there.

Generally, the fanon I hear is that, after Celestia sent Luna to the Moon, the residual magic from Luna's transformation left powerful dark magic in the area, causing the nearby forest to expand quickly. Either because of the forest, the terrible memories, or the fact that the castle was in ruins, Celestia and the citizens of the city relocated from there to Canterlot.
Either way, this is incredible. The detail you have is amazing.
Also, the comments below suggesting Doctor Whooves... not a terrible idea...

You should've put Dr. Whooves and a little blue box over on the right, by the windmill house, tucked away in the background. Great work, I like how you've portrayed the rural-ness right next to the castle.
