Yup! Pre-Canterlot Equestria? Thats my concept of The Ancient castle of the Royal sisters or whatever it was called
This idea hit me when I was re-watching FiM pilot for no parent reason whatsoever. I'm guessing Everfree forest wasn't that big back then or the ruins were actually on the other side of it. It was just my silly guessing. I will be very unhappy if they show this castle fully intact in season 4.
Lots of happy colours in this one. Even my *.psd file was actually named colorfulland!

The scope of this picture is very well done, it takes one who has done this before to realize this. Heh, I love how a lot of the ponies are the G4 prototypes, it makes sense.

As for the castle's location, I imagine that the Everfree itself was an indirect result of Luna's corruption by the Nightmare. Once Luna was banished and 'Tia moved her capitol to Canterlot, the Everfree (and all its lack of harmony) took over.

That does make sense and its also theory of many other fans. Though in my head that forest seemed much older than everything else, just smaller.
I would be happy for any lore they give me, but I'm that kind of guy who cringes when something is out of the canon

Alright, I see Firefly, Surprise, a pony apparently named Bubbles, a pony who looks like Derpy at the fence, a filly with a mane and tail colored differently (G-something Rarity, right?), and Doctor Whooves (?) (by the house right next to the river). How much did I get right?

it wouldn't surprise me if one were to walk around in the everfree forest for a while that they would find the remnants of what used to be equestria's capital. if i were to give it a fan made backstory i would say that the capital was moved to what is now canterlot after the damage done during the outbreak of nighmare moon. over time the region was swallowed by the forest and is now a place of forgotten history and myths.

This is lovely. Β Random question: Β is the yellow pony with the blue mane who's sitting under the tree supposed to be Bubbles from 1st generation? Β I've sort of decided in my head that she must be, since Firefly and Surprise (also G1 ponies) are there too, but I was curious if I was right. Β Bubbles was my favorite pony when I was little, and the toy of her is sitting down and has a forelock like that one, so it seemed plausible. Β But Firefly and Surprise were concept ponies for FiM and Bubbles wasn't, so.. anyway, I'm totally overthinking this. Β Feel free to ignore the crazy lady if you like~

Yes, it really is bubbles. I didn't want to put just concept ponies, but to show ponies from older gens hoping people will recognize some of them. Though Surprise is very popular and I knew everyone will know her

It's a gorgeous panorama full of beauty and liveliness. Cute cottages and lovely scenery, plus the (relatively modest) Caste of the Royal Pony Sisters you created looks terrific in the early days of harmony. Better yet, it's so accessible to all the ponies. Love the heart on the front gate.

While the picture itself is gorgeous, the only things that seem off are that, to me, it doesn't seem to mesh with the relative locations of the two remaining ruins at the site; also, since the princesses were supposed to be equal, maintaining balance, it's a little sad to see that the night wing is so much lower and less impressive than the sun palace. Though I find it a little endearing that (at least earth and unicorn) ponies have to enter through the night side to get to the day. (Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it.

Thanks for the honest opinion! The first part of that castle is the one having elements (if I remember correctly) and the taller one contains the throne room. My memory can be very glitchy at times, but I was sure about the bridge though I assumed it couldn't be just a rope bridge

There's lots of way it could work with your design: The castle and even part of the rocky hill could have been destroyed during the original battle between Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon. Chasms could have widened or even new ones opened, or maybe the rope bridge used to approach was on the other side. After all, the mountains in the distance are good Canterlot candidates. After such destruction they'd have to find a new home, and better yet if it's a place where they have mastery over the lands, skies, and even the animals.
Anyway, don't worry if they ever show the original because this picture is amazing. Wish I had a roll-feed printer (like a $5,000 HP plotter and bright acid-free 40" paper, etc.) to make a poster out of this. Anyway I've been "Jossed" several times now and it just rolls off your back; 99% of the fans understand (and actually look at the posting date
By the way, since we're on the topic of the original castle, do you have any thoughts or headcanon about the central symbol on the throne ? The sun and moon symbols were to the sides of it, so I have to wonder whom or what it represents.
