Description
Oh Twilight... Sooo what about them books, huh? Because I felt like I was being driven crazy. Painting details is cool and all, but this had to be made in little doses. Β Well, at least now I know how to paint a book spine! I won't even mention how long this took me as I had it sketched before season 5 aired and I redid it all at a later date. Still need to work on them crystals. So there it is - my take on the library.
I better not even say I'm finally back because I don't trust myself...

I'mΒ curiousΒ what's the tool do you use to draw theseΒ exquisite masterpiece.Β
It looks so professional, but can we do the same effects through Paint tool Sai or other paint tools which not that professional?
π: 0 β©: 1
Devinian In reply to EnTaroZerg [2016-03-20 13:22:23 +0000 UTC]
It was ye olde Photoshop CS3. It doesn't matter much which drawing program do you use, as long as it has a basic brush and layers, right? I am just used to Photoshop, but some people are great in SAI for example. The only tool I had missing was the ability to rotate canvas.

RD will probably be last of mane 6 I'll do because for now I can't think of any composition involving her and her house. She's constantly moving somewhere and can't imagine her being static near her floating house. she doesn't even have a garden.

At last another piece, and how brilliant it is to see; I was worried you'd not be uploading anything more, since it's been what, almost a year since your last? I hope not due to bad circumstances
A stunning composition again, I can only wonder how long those details took as I pore over them!
Reminds me a bit of a part of the British Museum. (Did you base it on something?)

Devinian In reply to Infrasonicman [2016-03-19 14:10:27 +0000 UTC]
Nah, I wouldn't ditch painting over nothing. There were simply some life issues around the way. I also accidentally crushed my tablet stylus with my elbow so it works only sometimes, when it feels like it
It's hard to tell if it was based on something rather. I didn't just found a real place and wanted to ponyfy it, but I was greatly inspired by the Belle's library - just not sooo wide Libraries are generally cool (except the modern ones).

I can't even find tablet like mine anywhere anymore. I don't know what happened to the company. I know it wasn't anything expansive or good, but it worked! It was called Medion. I don't know if there are some "standard" styluses to work with it. probably the cheapest one of this size I've seen. I feel so poor...

Hm. I was gonna offer to give you my spare if I could find it but you don't have a Wacom. awesome work! ^u^
just a tip btw: some digital artists use photo's to add details to save time, so you could take a picture of your local library and edit the image so it works into your art x)

Devinian In reply to TiberiusMoon [2016-03-19 14:34:33 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
I'm aware they do this, but for me it feels wrong. There's always something off in those and the finished effect isn't "fantasy" enough (if you know what I mean). "Inventing" objects gives you more control. They do save a lot of time on that, I have to admit.
Also, we don't have a library anymore and when it was still open, it was just a small cramped room

This is ridiculous . Everything is so solid and individually detailed. It must have taken half of an eternity of sitting time to get this whole thing done

Usually I give myself some breaks to stretch my bones. Constant sitting is not good for you. But it's good I don't count my sitting time...
