Welcome back to another edition of devInterviews!

I had the pleasure of interviewing bionikdesign who is a graphic designer on the deviantART Creative team alongside TheRyanFord , endosage and marioluevanos . He is a brilliant guy to talk to and really approachable as well.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what your role is as an Administrator on DeviantART.

My name is Patrick Eagar and I was born in Long Beach, California in 1982. I was raised in Westminster California for about 8 years, and then moved to Seal Beach when I was 9. Since then, I was living in Seal Beach all my life. I travelled to Colorado, San Francisco, and San Diego. I'm a pretty fun, outgoing guy. I love to play music in my free time which is a life saver for me, "Music Keeps Me Going ". My favorite band is The Bouncing Souls - I have been a fans since the 90's and so on.

When I am not playing music or doing design, I play video games with friends, watch Burn Notice, Family Guy or South Park, go to dive bars and have some fun with friends. I love making people laugh. Even if the joke isn't funny, I will try to carry it. Other than that, my goal is simple: to be a successful Graphic Designer and raise my own family. From the looks of things, it looks like I am on my way. The most important thing is that I love living life and having fun.

As for my role as an Administrator on DeviantART, I really don't have a role. I'm on the DeviantART Creative team with the best, TheRyanFord , endosage   and marioluevanos

How did you come across deviantART?

TheRyanFord told me about deviantART in 2004. I was looking for ways for other artists to see my work and TheRyanFord said "Hey, you should check out deviantART." So I did and I have been in love ever since.

How did you become an Administrator?

In 2005, TheRyanFord knew I was good as a graphic designer and that I was looking for work, so he brought me aboard to be part of the creative team. My first job here on deviantART was to create some devWEAR products and I went on to create the best seller "Fella Bones "

How long have you been a graphic designer, how did you come across that and why?

I have been a graphic designer for about 10 years now. It all started back in 1999 when I was in high school as a punk kid watching my best friend TheRyanFord   do all this awesome design work. I have always been inspired by music and the design behind it. I mostly spent my time listening to music and trying my own designs with my favorite bands. I hang out with TheRyanFord   a lot and talking with him about design every day, it inspired me to be a graphic designer.

Who is your inspiration?

TheRyanFord , Jamie Reid, Barbara Kruger, and Georges Braque

Do you create any other types of art?

I mostly do graphic designer work, but in my spare time I will take photographs, paint, silk-screen and do letter press.

What do you like most about deviantART?

Just finding amazing art work almost every day on this site and the people.

Do you remember what your life ambition was when you were a kid?

Haha. I remember I wanted to be a Major League Baseball player for the Anaheim of Los Angeles Angels of Los Angeles of Anaheim or just the California Angels. When I was a kid I was a pitcher and 1st basemen and it was a dream of mine to play baseball for the Majors.

If you could have any ability in the world, what would it be?

I love my creative abilities, so I’m happy with what I’ve got. However, I would love to have the ability to teleport, like from the movie Jumper or have Night Crawlers’ abilities (except no blue skin).

Lastly, could you give any tips to other budding graphic designers?

Just keep working hard and don't let anybody else tell you differently. We all have different styles and having your own style makes you unique. I’m not the greatest drawer in the world or the greatest designer in the world, but having my own style makes me unique and good at what I do.
