Description
My first proper attempt at digital art with a tablet!I know its not the best xd but I think its ok for a first try.
The Adeptus Custodes are the guardian of the emperor's imperial palace, they were the first genetically enhaced warriors the he created, they are slightly larger and stronger than normal space marines.

Not just "stronger than normal space marines", I'm pretty sure that the Captain-General, some Centurions andΒ Shield Captains and maybe even some Sentinels/Companions are stronger than theΒ Primarchs themselves.

Glorious artwork, though I might be a bit biased as the Custodes are by to me far cooler and bad-ass then any Astartes could hope to be. Great work friend.

They aren't even the same as the Astartes. They have a certain allure to them. A powerful guardian clad in golden armor. The SM are pretty much seen as an army while a custodian is seen as an individual, one warrior to fight all enemies. I just wish that forgeworld or someone would make models of them.
Also to the maker, great picture. I like the take on the armor. Instead of going with the classic praetorian armor I see you combined a Saxon plate armor design and married it with the praetorian armor, of course with the custodian flare.

If this is your first attempt, I cant imagine what would you accomplish with two or three more. This is really awesome. My first attempt was so awful that i deleted the file immediately.

That's your first attempt!!! Man for a first that is absolutely awesome and put my first attempt(see my gallery its the only coloured one there at the mo) to shame. Great stuff and keep it up.

Even though this is my first attempt i still have knowledge and techniques from traditional mediums of art that applies to digital painting, so it would make quite some difference.

Nice one, i find the upper torso and head the best, those details must have taken helluva time.

Incredible for a first try! Certainly better than anything I can do in terms of digital painting.
Love the overall shiny feeling this has--and great attention to detail with the patterns on the helmet. Just one suggestion: if you were intending for a flat effect, don't read this, but I reckon those designs would look so much cooler if they were etched into the helmet. All you need to do to get the effect is add in a darker line beside the already existing one. Same with the cracks; perhaps an extra reflected light in them would make it look more 3D.

I suppose it WOULD look better if i had the details etched into the helm, thx for the tip.
As for the texture in the background i just got an old parchment image off google and pasted in a layer behind the painting and set the paintings layer on multiply. But that changed the colour tone for the entire image as well. I actually tried several different layer options, I think the one most people use to set the Texture background layer to overlay and leave the painting as it is.

Ah, yes, the multiply effect... works well enough most of the time, but only if you're intending on fusing two layers' colour together. Otherwise it comes out horribly D:

Ah yes this is isquite beautiful from the WIP to this.... I am really left speechless to say its your first proper attempt with a tablet its quite something! i really do love the detail within the armour itself and the texture
