Description
First in a series of tutorials which I'll slowly be making in the future. This is to show how to basically construct a snow leopard head from a frontal perspective, more precisely this is how I do it.I thought before I go into detail about feline anatomy in general I'd put out some stuff on my favorite big cat <3 I just love snow leopard anatomy, especially their faces are so much fun to draw!
Next up will be side/profile view.
I hope some of you will find this useful!

Thanks a ton for this tutorial! With Dylan being a snow leopard, I've discovered that I'm not the best at drawing them. XD But it doesn't stop me from drawing my girl! I used this hereΒ to get a good head shot of her. Β I ended up drawing it on paper and painting it!

Thank you very much for making this, I stumbled upon it while looking for an appropriate reference image and it was very helpful. Β I didn't follow it exactly, but it gave me a good idea for proportions since I have little to no experience drawing snow leopards and was making a reference for one of my characters. Β Your tutorial was helpful to me here!Β ickshii.deviantart.com/art/Refβ¦
Thank you again!! <3

This is a great help, but I believe that the reason snow leopards have small ears is to minimise heat loss, on the same principle that desert hares have large thin ears with many blood vessels.
But the rock theory is interesting, thank you!

DeyVarah In reply to 0-EmoLeopard-0 [2012-05-09 07:53:31 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. Yes, of course you're right about the size of the ears being related to the cold climate snow leopards live in. I head the rock theory in some documentary, though and I was talking more about the positioning of the ears rather than their size. I could still remeber it wrong though
