Legendary Pictures will be releasing a movie called Pacific Rim sometime in 2013 directed by Guillermo del Toro. It's supposed to be about Earth being attacked by giant alien monsters, while humanity puts together a team with a giant robot to fend them off. Sounds like Power Rangers, but I'm pretty excited for it. Anyways here's a monster concept out of my hiney on what I think the Alien beasts might look like. With Guillermo del Toro it'll be more Old Ones than anything else. Too bad they didn't go forward with At the Mountains of Madness. More Pacific Rim monsters will be coming. These are only surmises. From what I've heard, Del Toro is basing a lot of his monsters in PR on classic tropes (Godzilla like dinosaurs, giant bugs and crustaceans, etc).

I'm hoping for "awesome" since I was originally pining for At the Mountains Of Madness. That got shelved for Pacific Rim, so I'm betting on it being chalk full of new and cool monster designs and Mehca with a great story. Cloverfield sort of fell flat in establishing a western giant Monster akin to Godzilla, so maybe Pacific Rim will get lucky and give up a Monster that catches the public's imagination.

I agree man! The movie has a budget of 200 Million. Guillermo Del Toro is a kick ass director, Pans Labyrinth, The Hellboy movies and Blade II, as well as The Devils Backbone and Cronos!
Even better dude, Industrial Light and Magic is bringing the monsters and robots to life! Oscar Winners John Knoll and Hal T Hickel are in charge of the visual effects and animation. And Legacy Effects who did the Iron Man films, Thor and The Avengers are doing the practical effects!
Expect nothing but kickassness.

You do know Legacy Effects is just a renamed Stan Winston Studios right. Makes things even more awesome huh! Even cooler some parts of the monsters and robots are being built full scale. The 1st trailer premiered at Comic-con the other day. Possibly may premiere offically with The Dark Knight Rises this weekend! Here's hoping!

Oh yes the guys in charge worked with Stan Winston for decades and yes it was renamed "Legacy Effects" as in the Legacy of Stan Winston ^^
Oh and I heard one of the Kaijus is Shark faced!!

Oh and Ron Perlman(Hellboy) is in the film! He plays Hannibal Chow, a Black Market dealer who sells fallen Kaiju parts to rich people(ones who have too much money and want to collect or eat the parts)
