As Bessenov wrote on the first page of his Inquisition-art.net site -"here is the terrible world of the inquisition -barefoot females in chains, prisons, etc" , and he e-mailed me after I e-mailed him, re. no footwear on the prisoners and he said "Prisoners were usually barefoot."
I also asked him,
But withΒ a lot of paintings you have in your 'Prison' section of your Inquisition website - most of the women are in full clothing - but with just their feet bare, so with these images - were just their footwear removed,
- so was it normal for these women to have just their footwear taken off?Β

Lesser artists would cling to silly, rigid ideals. She's so believable and lovely and the chains on her feet are so heavy and secure.

For my taste, she goes well with her ragged attire and bare feet. In my book she's a mere humble slave girl. No sentence to serve - she'll simply stay the lowest of the low for life.

Well, that stinks for her.Β She could always plot an elaborate escape, then try to pull off some seemingly impossible feat.Β If she succeeds, she's off to Camelorum - where the weirdos go.Β At least she won't be chained inside her cell that way.Β Though, she'll still have to do a lot of community service.Β And I hope she likes ska.Β They play a LOT of it!

its sad to think that people were treated like this in the middle ages .its a beautiful photo a little depressing but beautiful none the less .makes me sad for this gorgeous slave girl and i'd like to free her of those chains.
