Description Yeh.. another 1st. Photograhed a mink in the wild.
In a crystal clear spring fed pond in white water.
That's exciting.. at least for us old guys. Merlinstouch & I
went out today..I think the mink was looking over at tim, when I took this shot. Most of the time he only had eyes for me! I was only 20 ft. away. Love these saturdays..

I saw one of these on the Shenandoah River the other day, actually I saw four, about 10 feet away, but that's besides the point. It's nice to see someone had a camera when they saw one, unlike us...

Wow what a treat! Love the effect of the ripples on the clear water. I believe we now have wild mink in the UK (escapees from fur farms) but I've never seen one. Great shot!

Thank you.. I missed an otter that same morning. 8-10ft away before I saw him.. never
had a chance to get off a shot. Its the 1st time in 15 years I've seen and photographed a mink,
and 1st time ever to see an otter in the wild. Really an unusual day.

Just to let you know.. I was out to the same pond.. with my chair blind. Missed a fawn drinking because I had set the blind with the shooting window just off where the fawn showed up. Turned the blind a little to
get that area in camera view, 15 min later the mink shows up in the pond, on the edge where I couldn't shoot because I had just moved the blind... Not a really great morning..some days are like that.

Nice job Don. I got mine up now. Amazing how different an angle can make. Love it. Can't wait to see more.

Thank you.. Certainly was lucky timing.. we've been to this spot other times. We have seen
a bald eagle, Blue heron, turkeys, kingfishers(woodticks.. no photos), many birds. Its only
a 1/4 mile from the road, but very few people know its there. Wish we had more spots
like it.

Thanks.. I am glad I got anything.. I was shooting 120-160th of a sec. at 5.6, holding the mono-pod
off the ground to clear some brush between the mink andmy self. The last shots I was able to extend the mono to the ground and keep on shooting. If you look at Tim's shot. you can see his view of the same
pose on my 2nd shot. Never expected to see this guy.. totally surprised. I do believe if we hadn't been in full camo I might have gotten off 1 shot, instead of the 15 I did get.
