Did you know hummers love sap? This is a tree that is being tapped by yellow bellied sapsuckers, Notice the rows of holes. This allows the sap to come out, and the sapsuckers feed on it. Well so do the humming birds.Related content

That is so cool, I never heard of sap suckers before. Well, I guess they are similar to hummingbirds.
Wonderful shot, and I love the difference in motion between its still body and the blurred wings. I suppose this took multiple shots to get the right photo...how many times did you take the picture???

15 or 20 times, in a couple hour period. I have
4 or 5 keepers.

Great shot...I've seen them doing this (and at sap drips from our maples) It's nice to see someone caught the action.
