I bumped into this photo of bodybuilder/trainer Kevin Hejnas and I was reminded of one of my favorite muscle drawings by the great artist, ydt81 . The drawing is titled Neil and in it there is a discussion of #alphanerds and in reading it, I discovered that this is a theme in my own work.
So I went back and tagged my nerdiest muscleguys with that hashtag.
Nerds who are also muscleguys are a hot combination. Heightened intellect with heightened strength is a very potent combo! It’s a case where combining traditional opposites makes something better than either separately.
Thanks for helping me define a favorite theme. I encourage my fellow similarly inclined muscleartists to also use the #alphanerds designation!

And this is kind of like when Renaissance painters would just paint pictures of fruit. it's a simple subject but it really seems to work.
you also chose a subject well as this dude looks really cute in glasses. The way you've photo shopped the shirt around his elbows works really well.

Would love to return to Neil some time. I can across a beauty on Tumblr just last week on Tumblr that reminded me very much of his aesthetic.

i have always loved your work, the sense of bulk & power contrasted with the sensitivity of the faces. The idea of you returning to Neil as a character is very exciting to me.

Kevin was well rewarded for his record breaking charity stunt. A solid three days if drumming to support those who serve this Veterans Day weekend raised over twenty thousand dollars. But thanks to a little help from his biology teacher and some experimental supplements Kevin was well rewarded as the high repetition activity stimulated growth in his arms.
Now psyched, Kevin plans to enter his schools Cross Fit Environmental Day competition the result should be monumental.
