Description So, I've been on a weird art hype lately. Normally I save stuff like this for summer....😕? Anyways, context:

A while ago, I came across an au for the Transformers series by this artist: jazzthetiger.deviantart.com/
Now, I love transformers, specifically the Prime cartoon. So her art inspired me, especially her pictures of Knockout, to make my own headcanon on the mermechs and how they would work.

To put it simply, I believe mermechs are descended from surviving Predacons that evolved and adapted to life in the oceans. The reason for this is how, in tfp, humans created their beasts of myth and folk lore around the predacons, like dragons and griffons and such. So who's to say the same couldn't be said for sea serpents and other similar beasts? Not only that, but it's possible that energon crystals found in the ocean's depths grew in a way that they're softer and easier to consume raw than their land based versions. We've also seen Predacons are very intelligent beings, such as Predaking, and can easily adapt to new environments. They would have taken on the traits of sea life to blend in and thrived hidden in the depths.
Eventually, they would have evolved over time into techno-organic beings, adopting organic based features and behaviors while retaining some of there ancient cybertronian traits. Maybe even developing their own societies with completely different histories and customs. Some traits that changed are a neoprene-like protoform covered in metal scales/armor, silicone-esk fins/webbing, hollow optics, and many other traits.

It's still in the works, but a very interesting concept to think about. What do you guys think? Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments below, and don't forget to check out the original artist in the link provided!
