Description
Just for the record, this tutorial has already been online for two years.
Updated version now includes :
- tips about blending,
- a detailed schema about facial proportions,
- screenshots of the tools used and tips about these tools
- I fixed some typos.
About blending : NO, there's no specific tool used, I just used the paintbrush as mentionned clearly in the tutorial.
Pretty please guys, READ the tutorial before asking.
I've already received 4 notes about blending yesterday some seconds right after I reposed the tutorial, I know that part was somehow missing in the previous tutorial since I had not explained it in a very detailed way with painted examples (I thought that was clear enough but it apparently wasn't) but it's now fully explained.
Thank you!
I won't reply to any question about things already explained here unless someone has got real trouble figuring them out as I've got way too many other things to do so please read the tut carefully

Please take a look at it, there is a huge closeup showing all details on the skin, fan and hair!!!

I've used Photoshop CS3 to paint this, you can download a free trial version on Adobe's website if you don't have it yet! Older versions will work too of course. I'm not sure you can find the Liquify tool in versions older than Photoshop CS though....
Original painting resolution : 9000 x 6714px, 300 dpi. No need to paint such a big image though... I just wanted to be able to print it on a very large size

I would appreciate if you fav/credit it if you found it useful so it can reach more people. Thank you! I'd love to see what you can do with it, so don't hesitate to link me your creations, I'll take a look at them
You may translate it to share it if you want but PLEASE don't change it adding or removing things. Translation must be as accurate as possible to avoid things being hard to understand for the reader. THANK YOU

Thank-you so much for posting this! I've wanted to learn Digital Painting for a while, but it always looked too intimidating.
Mine doesn't look nearly as flawless as yours, but I'm still happy with it. [link]

Hello !

Only just bought a Wacom Bamboo but not set up fully yet. Looking at the fantastic tutorial by Diane it just shows what can be done if you have such a great skill.

Very well done. There are a lot of useful tutorials online, but this one stands out. When time permits, I do hope Dianae does more of these using different subjects. Keep going please.

i will ask a question, my question was not explained on the tutorial. uhm.. on Page 4, the tutorial about eyes. My question is not all about the eys, it is all about the skin. Why is the skin on the left picture is different on the second one? i want to achieve that kind of skin texture on the right side. i NOTICE that the color of the skin changed on the right picture... how did you do that? THANK YOU! )))
