Description
As promised, here's a plush pattern for Goomy! You can find the final results of this pattern here . Update: I have a tutorial for this pattern!
I'd call Goomy somewhere in between an easy and an intermediate plush to make. In particular, assembling each of the quarters of the body can be a little bit painful with having to sew together the curved edges and the dots. If you're lazy you can always just sew the green dots with felt after the plush is put together, or you could even embroider the dots on (I wouldn't recommend embroidery though, you don't want too much embroidery on a plush). Once you put the quarters together though, attaching the pieces together and connecting them to the base is basically like putting together a sphere.
This plush pattern isn't perfect; it's not as blobby as I'd like it to be, and the base bulges out once you stuff it, which is something I'm not entirely sure how to fix. Nonetheless it's a good starting point for anybody who's interested in creating their own little dragon blob friend.
Let me know if you have any questions; I'd be glad to clarify anything that's confusing!
Please do not use this pattern for profit. This pattern is to help spread the Goomy love, not so that you can profit off my work.

I was wondering if I could take this pattern and edit bits of it for a mini plush Psyduck I'm trying to make?

Go for it! Modifying plush patterns is one of the best ways to learn and create stuff.

Awesome! Thanks!
Also, do you do the patterns by hand? Or do you use any software to do them?

I just draw them up in Photoshop. I don't use any 3D modeling tools or anything like that, but at the same time I'm too lazy to do it actually by hand.

I assume you've taken a look at the tutorial? All you have to do is line it up with the corresponding points on the body pieces. Try matching the front of the body piece with the front of the base, and then the back of the body piece with the back of the base, then everything should come together.

I was wanting to start making my own plushies (for me) and saw your guide and Goomy pattern. Thank you so much for posting this! It'll give me a chance to practice sewing before making my own plushies.

Glad I could help! Definitely take a look around pattern groups and stuff too, you can learn a lot just from reading through tutorials, even if you don't actually make the plush in question.

It's not for profit, but if you want me to take it down, it's fine. I just love Goomy

How exactly do you measure the pieces the ensure that they are all proportional, and how do you know how big it'll be? Is it just from practice?

The pieces are already to scale on the given pattern; all you have to do is ensure that you print it all out at once, so that you don't get pieces in differing sizes. As for the size, the final plush will probably turn out a little shorter than the height of the main body piece. So if you print out the main body piece to be 10 inches tall, the final plush might be 7-9 inches (I'm not sure of the exact number).

would this be a good pattern for a beginner with hand sewing? (i know you said easy to intermediate but hand vs machine sewing is different from what i've tried in the past) this was my very first attempt using a sewing machine in school rika24.deviantart.com/art/My-1… with some things hand sewn.

I must admit I've never sewn together a plushie with a machine before; if I say "easy to intermediate" I mean it in terms of hand sewing. The intermediate part only comes in if you sew those green dots into the body pieces; if you decide to just stick it on top somehow then it's definitely very easy for hand sewing.

I just might have to hit Fabricland on their next sale~
I think a quick tutorial would be helpful, especially when attaching all the parts since that's a bit confusing.

Also, have you tried putting cardboard at the base?

I considered something like it, it would probably work. That being said it would probably reduce how huggable the plush feels, so if you're aiming to display it then it's fine, but if you hug all your plushies like I do I'm willing to put up with a rounded base if it makes it more cuddly.

That is a good point. I mostly put my plushies up on display so I put cardboard in the feet of a lot of mine. But cuddlebility seems more important for goomy.
