but I have a question
which fur/ stretch directionΒ have to be( expeciallyΒ the head gusset)?

Typically you want the nap on the fur to be going down, much like the fur on an real life animal. For the gusset though, that's a little more ambiguous; for this project, since I was using minky, I made it so that the fur ran down from point 0 to point 1, so that the nap would run down on the front of the plush. You also might be able to split the head gusset into two pieces (maybe at point C) and then have the fur run from C to 0 and C to 1, so that it runs down on both sides of the head. Up to you!

You'll need to use what's called a ladder stitch; there's lots of resources that'll show you how to do it online.

Sorry to bother you but I've got another question. Namely, how to stop a thread from coming out once you've sewn the pieces on

You're talking about ladder stitching, right? Usually what you do is that when you're at the end of your ladder stitch, you'll tie a knot, and then you'll pull the thread underneath one of the seams to try to slide the knot underneath one of the seams to hide it, and then bring the thread out on the other side. That way the "loose" end of the string stays tucked inside the arm so no one can see it. It takes a little practice; heck, I'm not even good at doing it all the time.

Oh man I totally forgot, although I know that a half yard of yellow should be more than enough to suffice for any reasonable-sized project (even the 25 inch one I made) so long as you budget your space carefully.

what size would you have to make the pattern to make one that is about 20'' tall?

Given that the current pattern would make roughly a 10" plush, you'd need to double the size of the existing pattern and then segment it out onto 750 x 1000 px rectangles. If you're having trouble figuring it out you may or may not find my Scaling tutorial helpful.

You don't often see tutorials for more difficult patterns, soΒ it's definitely cool that you posted this! I make patterns/plushies as well, but don't often do more difficult patterns. So I think this could be a nice refresher for me to attempt to kind of get into the swing of making less simple plushies.

Truthfully I wouldn't consider this a "difficult" pattern; the shapes are pretty simple and the only really annoying parts are putting the legs on and sewing all the stripes together. It's definitely not on the same level of annoyingness as, say, the Florges plush I made. But yeah, glad you found it helpful, I hope you decide to make something with it

No problem! Part of what's nice about Ampharos is that it has a body shape which isn't too unusual so hopefully people will find ways to reuse it in other projects.

Can I ask why you didn't consider selling the pattern? You put all this hard effort in designing if you were to sell it I would have bought it.

The thought of putting it up for sale did cross my mind a few times during the creation of the tutorial. There are a few reasons why I decided not to do so. I feel like I'd have to make the pattern and tutorial a little tidier and clear to be able to sell it; I got lazy marking some points on the pattern and formatting the tutorial. Mainly though, I think people have different expectations from a tutorial when it's for sale as opposed to freely available, especially in regards to support. If I put it up for sale on Etsy or something and someone gets confused, I sort of have an obligation to help them understand, regardless of whether the misunderstanding is my fault or theirs. That's not to say that I won't answer support questions (quite the opposite of course); selling it just incentivizes people to ask me first when they get confused as opposed to experimenting themselves, and I really don't want to have to provide "proper" customer service on this pattern indefinitely. Finally, trust me when I say I'm not really in need of money right now

Thats fair enough they're all good valid points but from all your tutorials you have put up here they're all very clear and informative more than most patterns I have bought off etsy (some didn't come with instructions)

Welp I've always been a sort of didactic person, glad to see my clarity from academics transfers over to my plush-making as well! But yeah, I just like to help people out, and while generally I stick to the whole "teach a man to fish" principle such as with my other tutorials, once in a while it's nice to have patterns off of which people can base their future works.
