It's just a Northern Water Snake and is completely harmless. I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could hate this animal for simply existing. That hate/fear of snakes is based on lies and misinformation and falls well short of anything logical.

I don't hate snakes and totally respect their place in the ecosystem. However I do like for there to be a bit of distance between our portions of the ecosystem. Thanks for the comment and the identification!

My nephew-in-law jokingly said, "I'm going to go looking for turtles and snakes!" A few moments later I hear, "Drew, you gotta come look at this snake!" When I laughed he said,"I see one, I shit you not!" After i looked I walked quickly back to the car to get a zoom lens.
