I know muffin is now the official name of Derpy T.T
But WHHHHHHHHHHY!?
Well, not only the change of the name, but I think it's canon now that Derpy love muffin!

In my own MLP fan art, Derpy Hooves is her full name, but during high school she earned the nickname Muffins for her love of the eponymous irresistible baked treat. In her senior year she was voted Most Likely to Win a Muffin Eating Contest. She goes by both names in Ponyville. And her derped expression is the result of lazy eye, but it's won the hearts of everypony who knows her.

I say both. Muffins may be her official name because Hasbro doesn't want a repeat of the soccer-mom outrage from 2012. But I think those soccer moms will still be outraged because not only is Derpy talking again, but she's still the silly little pony that we all love and defend.
As I see it, her birth name is still Derpy, but is nicknamed Muffins for obvious reasons. I can go for both.

No matter how hard they try to hide it, they said it aloud on the show once and that's what matters.
That's just a place holder like how there's always a muffin where her name should be on the merch. Until they directly call her that, it's still Derpy.
