Description Quick illo of SpiderGwen.  Not sure if I like the full mask, kinda like having her face and hair uncovered.  But, you know, gotta maintain that secret identity I guess...

Awesome take on Spider-Gwen!

Wonderful sense of movement!  Both Spider-Gwen pictures you have made look terrific and like many have stated I hope she gets a film or a Animated TV show herself.  Movies and TV have a broader reach then comics plus she and some others deserve it.

One commenter wrote:
"Ya know, for the latest in the line of Spider-Man reboots, they should do something different than the did the last two times. They should either do Spider-Gwen or Spider-Girl, Mayday Parker version. 'Cause unless it's Andrew Garfield, I've had enough of Peter!"

I agree.  First off I feel bad for poor Garfield that he was a wonderful "Spider-man" (as "Peter" I wasn't fully saw him as due to Garfield gives off a feeling of coolness that collided with his supposedly nerd low social standings that Peter supposedly to lack with his peers).  As the Spider he had that personality and attitude I could see matching the spirit found in the 616 version of in the comics.  The actor did a fantastic job and both him and Emma brought life and passion to the romance.  Their chemistry was the strongest factor in the two movies and I sad to write the best and only really great thing in the movies (the Spider-Man action was good but also short many times).  It's due to both and the Spectacular Animated series that I feel Gwen got more attention now vs becoming obscure to the public (outside of long time comic fans).

Reading about how he got the short end of the stick from Sony during production and after and now with 3 reboots (3 freaking reboots coming up: the MCU universe movie, Sony's Animated movie, and Sony's Live Action movie) of Peter being made (none Garfield) I too share that exhaustion of watching only Peter.  Peter is the first and most well known and famous but in the comics many have had Spider powers as well and could be presented.

I hoping for Spider-Gwen.  I hope that Gwen is in the MCU (exactly how she will be presented and her characterization and direction can go anywhere as Gwen has become a flexible and changing character in many universes taking many different roles but hopefully whatever they do with MCU Gwen I hope for greatness and this time NOT die) and that she as well will gain her own Spider powers and be a great hero.  If not a movie then maybe a Netflix show (TV can cover much more then a movie can thus making Gwen and her cast more rounded plus animated or live action if on Netflix it could allow the makers to present a darker tale then Network TV would allow and Spider-Gwen comic series is actually a dark heroin in a punk dark Earth).

Other that I have hopes to show up in the MCU or have their own show or movie in time would be: Silk (I follow both Silk and Spider-Gwen in the comics and love both), Mayday, and Miles (with cameos from the other Spiders when fitting or a Spider-Verse movie eventually and to really get interesting have Toby and Andrew in it as part of the large cast (they would be older but that could be covered by that thing that all Spiders go though called aging)).

I'm Peter Parker-ed out.

For her mask I was thinking about that.  In many fanwork and Covers Gwen and even Parker will not have their masks on.  This is due to it being that the face is covered.  The mask gives mystery and represents the Spider (fear or wonder depends on where she or he is your ally or foe) but unmask and we see the human side under it.  Both are their faces.  However the mask covers up the face thus covers up emotions and other necessary tone and languages.  The connection between us and the person underneath is block by the mask and body language and vocal tones has to handle the rest.

In movies that is the reason the writers will many times have the hero unmask at many points to see the human underneath plus the emotions they are going though.  In Spider-Man this happens alot and even in movies where we see the mouth and eyes the mask/helmet would still be removed to see the human hero under it all (Captain America is such a character where his mask comes off many times in the movies for us to see Steve who is the true hero due to who he is underneath it all seeing the good human).

I feel if they make a Spider-Gwen movie or show possibly they might want to do what the team is doing for the Deadpool movie and animated the mask eyes.  In real life a mask stays in one expression based on it's design.  However in the Comics and Animated shows the mask can move and the eyes of it can be expressive and we don't question it.  It properly computer animated it should blend very well to the point viewers watching will not see animation but see a real life mask that can be expressive and believably to the viewers much like how Rocket and Gwoot are animated yet can stand next to the actors and we accept it as real beings unquestionably due to how well it was done.

Finally who to play Spider-Gwen.  While I love Emma Stone's Gwen and Stone did a fantastic job by the time they begin production on Spider-Gwen I think Emma will be too old to play a younger high school or even college age role (unless it animated then age doesn't mater but voice does and even then their are other experienced and great voice actresses who can do wonders for Gwen).  Thus if production was to begin now who do you think might be able to play the part?

I've seen people post: Elle Fanning , Ana Mulvoy (I can see her as Spider-Gwen currently as she might be 23 but she looks young and has the face and acting credits for the role), Chloe Grace Moretz (I an definite see her for the part and again has the acting experience), and Saoirse Ronan.  I would also include Willow Shields to that possible list.  I know Willow is mostly known for the Hunger Games as the little sister but I first saw her on Dancing with the Stars and after seeing her on the show I can say she could be a great Spider-Gwen plus she would have time to prepare her body to look athletic or gymnast much like a Super power human with spider powers would appearance and flexible quick action movements.  Being 14 currently would provide time and will have her age wise fit the role when production begins considering that the writers are going for the high school setting in MCU with a equally young Peter actors considered.

Thanks for the kind words!

You're right, one of the main issues with masks is the inability to see the hero's expressions.  Even with someone like Captain America, it's not so pronounced because you can still see the eyes and mouth.  Same goes for Batman.  This always applies when drawing them.  Most likely, any further Spidergwen pieces I do will be sans mask.
Moretz is one of the most obvious choices, based on her previous role in KickAss, but something about her doesn't seem quite right.  I usually see Gwen as the girl-next-door, and I don't know that Moretz quite fits that.  I was perfectly happy with Emma Stone as regular Gwen, but I think as an action hero, she would be somewhat lacking.
I know this cannot happen since she was already in an MCU movie, but I was really happy with Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, and I think she would have done well as SpiderGwen.  Oh well.

Another name I'm adding to the list of possible Gwens is Peyton List.  Peyton when I saw her face scream Gwen to me plus has that girl next door vibe that you wrote.  However the biggest factors will be how the writers see their Gwen.  This greatly depends on how they plan to present her and her characterization and her developments as a character and styles.  For all we know the writers might introduce the concept of alternate realities thus age and other factors for Gwen could be different from the picked Spider-man.  Right now if Gwen and Peter was going to be the same age than a High School age looking Gwen would be fitting.  If she becomes Spider-Gwen of that universe (I hope) then that is further requirements for the selected Gwen (body building, stunts or necessary requirement for playing the hero).  If not then again alternate universe and "Spider-Verse" possibly for Spider-Gwen if fortunate to have a movie (and I hope so).

The writers and hiring teams went over 1500+ actors for Spider-Man and right now have it down to 6 thus far.  The same high amount of auditions, testings, and negotiations could apply for the rest of the casting.  As time goes by aging and other factors will remove some and others will pop up as well in addition to who could play Gwen.

It's funny how you can't escape some things even if you aren't a part of them, no? Especially nowadays, where everything seems to be a problem and everyone has to stand up in outrage
But I digress - your rendition here really is lovely! The color, tones, colored lineart... big thumbs up! ; ]
