And that's a wrap for Sybil Howard, or Ratcliffe more properly, since she's reverting to her maiden name with the divorce. Nobody's going to miss her. Not the cast, not you, not me. All the same, all of us know or have known people like that in real life. Sometime it takes a very long time for them to get what they've had coming, but it's always so sweet when they finally do. You know? (grin-and-wink)
If you'll recall, Brandy's former apartment was flooded on the first floor when her hot water heater burst during the night, as depicted in the Season Two episode "The Sleepover." Once she found out that it would probably take a while and some rather extensive repairs (replacing the water heater, all of the ruined carpet, the damaged parts of the lower walls, etc.) before she could move back in, and that's when she moved in with Larry. Moe even altered their leases for them to permit them living together, since it was pretty clear by that point that Larry and Brandy were planning on getting married and having one less apartment to deal with was going to be an advantage to them in the long run. When Moe makes the statement about some of Brandy's luck possibly rubbing off on him, he's referring to the events of Season One and how Brandy and Larry came together as a direct result of her moving into that apartment. Why? She too was making a fresh start on life ... but for those of you who are new and don't know, you'll just have to go back to Season One and start at the beginning.
Those are good people, you know - Something which Moe worked long and hard to build up with the Richland Townhomes. If you'll recall some of his past conversations on the subject, he deliberately priced the rent high so only certain people could afford to live there. This is something I picked up from friends and family who are in the real estate business, as well as some personal experience of my own. The higher the rent, the more likely the renter will take care of the property being rented. People who go for low rents usually don't care because it's not theirs and more often than not they don't take care of the place and tend to trash it, especially when moving out. Fortunately for Moe the people he got to live at the Richland Townhomes are good people, just like he said ... and with more than just paying the rent and taking care of the apartments. (smile)
