The battlestar Pegasus, or "The Beast" as she is known in NuBSG, was like her TOS predecessor one of the newest and most advanced ships in the Colonial fleet.  In NuBSG Pegasus was a Mercury class battlestar, more sophisticated than the older Galactica and with her own on-board production facilities so she could make her own Viper fighters to replace any she lost in combat (given enough available resources).  She was undergoing a refit at the Scorpia Fleet Shipyards when a Cylon fleet showed up and began to nuke the place.  With no other option available her captain, Commander Cain (a woman in NuBSG and played by Michelle Forbes, TNG's Ensign Ro Lauren) ordered a blind hyperspace jump - without taking the time to set a destination - in order to escape the carnage before Pegasus could be nuked in her spacedock.  She got away and underwent her own disturbing set of adventures (see the movie Razor) before eventually and by a minor miracle hooking up with the Galactica and her Rag-Tag Fleet and joining forces with them.  Commander Cain is later killed under circumstances best left to watching the show and command is given to Apollo, Commander Adama's eldest surviving son, who proves up to the task.  Pegasus is eventually destroyed at the Battle of New Caprica holding off three newtype Cylon Base Stars by herself while Galactica and the rest of the Rag-Tag Fleet escapes to safety.

LightWarrior's is one of many excellent high poly Pegasus CG models that have come out since Coxxon did his original (and still quite good) low-poly effort for the space combat video games of the day many years ago.  Sadly he's since pulled it from SketchFab, but don't get upset.  There's plenty of other Pegasus CG models out there ... and if worst comes to worst, there's a SketchUp port of Coxxon's old low-poly effort over at Google's 3D Warehouse.  Here's the link:

Katase's low-poly SketchUp version is non too shabby either ...
